only phrase i could get out was "we got him!" and i kept saying it over and over.

i really didn't think we had a chance despite people saying days before that we might. i just knew someone was going to take him.

Yup! I don't think a single Panthers fan saw it coming even with all the mock drafts having Star dropping to us leading to the draft. It was just hard to believe that it was going to happen.

But I started to have a good feeling that Star could possibly fall to us when I started to hear reports that Oak may take DJ Hayden at 3, and then saw Miami trading up for Jordan. Once Arizona took Cooper ahead of Warmack I just started to have the best feeling believing Star could fall to us bc I knew Tennesee then was going to take Warmack.

My favorite moment in the draft was when Goodell announced that the Jets took Sheldon Richardson. I screamed like a bit(h knowing we had the two best DTs in this class falling into our lap.

The Jets took Sheldon, much to the disbelief of my Jets fan buddy, and I was just like "YEAHHHHHHH!!" Then it came to my realization that we too could somehow screw up and pick the wrong guy. But when I heard Star, it was back to "YEAHHHHHHHH!!"

It's cool that the family was all together, but I bet Star would have liked to be with his family rather than 25 amateur photojournalists. I called my brother as soon when the Jets were on the clock and told him we were one pick away from getting Star. When the Jets picked Richardson I couldn't believe it...not only did they not pick Star but they picked another DT. 

 

Maybe the most exciting draft I've ever watched. With Cam we knew we were going to get him beforehand and other first rounders we've selected we typically picked around the range the player was projected to go.

 

A lot of reasonable people never expected Star to fall out of the top 10 let alone to 14. Great night for the Panthers!
