Gettlemen led us to believe we would draft 2 immediate starters

Many people do not see how well he did.

Star: day 1 starter. Will be a star in the NFL, better than Floyd or Richardson, IMO.

Short: Dwan is 32. He cannot play but about half of the snaps. Last year, we nearly wore Hardy out, moving him inside on passing downs. This year, we don't have to do that. Short will get his snaps.

Kugila: He will not be changing positions (Rivera) so there is some reason to believe that he is going to be ahead of Silatolu. I think he could start, but he will struggle early. Some are thinking "next year" with this guy. We would not have drafted him had Gettlemen thought Hangartner could do the job. If we thought a year away, Gettlemen would also sign a veteran to a 1-year deal. If he does not, Kugo is starting.

The beauty of this draft is what Gettlemen did in the fourth and fifth rounds.

Klein: Klein was awewome at LB for a few years at Iowa St. He is a poor man's Keuchly, with more ability to play all three spots at a high level. Gettlemen knows that Beason is overpaid for a SLB. He will not overpay for players--he made that clear. Klein is better than people realize--he will be good on special teams now and probably start within a year. Davis, by the way, is about to get a huge increase in salary. We have to decide whether he is worth it at age 31 with 3 ACLs. So, if you are like me and KRINGED when you saw LB on the screen, you were in Hurney mode. He was not drafting for 2013 starters, but potential starters and special teamers.

Barner: This says, "Bye DeAngelo" to me. Probably a June 1 cut, but if not, this is his last year. We really do not think Gettlemen would sit back and allow that much money to go to running backs? I am sue he compared the payroll to the productivity chart and raised an eyebrow. This year, our running back position will feature a bruiser (Tolbert), a workhorse (Stewart) and a scatback (Barner). All will contribute. I imagine Tauren Poole will be in the mix, perhaps on the PS. The money we save will nearly cover all of the rookies' salaries.
