Watkins has been a star at Clemson since his freshman year and is a legit No. 1 wide out. At the start of the 2014 season, Steve Smith will be 35. Just how productive can he be at that age?

No way are drafting 11. But I have no doubt, even this early that we be able to get our future LT or #1 WR in the 2014 draft. It will be loaded at each position. If not we will get a #1 CB which there will be a lot of top CBs in that draft too.

I think walter's 2014 mock has us getting Marquis Lee. I do think next year is probably the year we go for Smitty's replacement in the 1st, if there's a guy that fits the value. Future LT or CB1 could also be targets, obviously depending on how this year goes.

I agree. NY may not have the money to keep both Nicks and Cruz.

I'd rather take Nicks and an OT like Matthews or Lewan in the first, or best available OT.

If we improve, the way I think we will. We may have to trade up or get a WR via FA. You know that's how it'll work. We get down to what should be the last chance to grab a top tier WR and have some time to groom him,before Smittys done. And we have a breakout year (and I hope we do) and miss out on one.

Granted there has been more busts recently (Colbert, Williams, Jarrett), there have been successful ones in the past. (HOF) Lynn Swann, Curtis Conway, (HOF) Frank Gifford, Keyshawn Johnson, Bob Chandler,Earl Mccullough.

 

Colbert, Williams or Jarrett never will come close to the talent that Lee possesses. I would argue that all three were possession receivers while Lee is more of a playmaker with speed, elusiveness, vision. Besides, #3 receivers never really had a chance on a John Fox team. Actually don't think they get much of a chance in 90% of any teams.
