Agree that it helps the secondary the most, Norman was playing not to get beat last year (which as usual results in getting beat). The quicker we can collapse the pocket the less he has to worry about getting beat.

no team generated better pressure than us last year.....yet that is 95% of the talk about how to fix our secondary issue.

people got overinfatuated with him....thinking trash talk meant skill

Lol that and they thought he was god after his 4 interceptions in practice

I would much rather have a monstrous front seven and a weak secondary than the other way around....

example Dashon Goldson he is incredibly overated and people will see that this season now that he isn't playing behind the niners front 7.

I agree. As good as Bucs secondary is, I don't think it'll take them anyway far this season. Bucs loss pretty much their best pass rusher in Bennett and they did nothing to address this other than taking Gholston late in the draft. And Bennett isnt wasnt anything spectacular. Clayborn and Bowers never became the players they were suppose to become. Though, there is still time for them. Don't even mention their linebackers. It's TERRIBLE!

History has shown that SB teams can win with mediocracy in the secondary. Just check the previous 5-7 years.

Tampa has some decent players in there front seven, David and McCoy are pretty good other than that they have no pass rush....

Corner is such a ridiculously hard position to learn. Its like a miracle when you find a decent one with a year under his belt. Theyre already fighting a losing battle since the league wants touchdowns. Rules committees are making sure of that. Receivers are trained to use the slightest fault in theyre technique against them. Things like being soft with your hands will get you owned over and over again even if you have the speed to be in every play.

 

We're in a pretty good spot though. Massive front seven, lost a badass corner and got a decent replacement to protect the 1, safety has competition at least, and the 2 will be up for grabs from Thomas or Norman.

 

 

32 is not old for a corner btw, its up there but its not out of their prime. Champs is doing just fine at 34 or 35 right now and Darrell Green was tackling running backs and covering Megatron sized receivers until he was 42.

Florence is no were close to the level of any of those guys in fact he is injury prone....

Don't trash the kid this early. You might have to bite young tongue next time. Face it. The kid was a rookie last season. He played like a rookie but at times he played better than most rookies. Fans today wants "immediate" impact from their rookies and if they don't make the pro bowl, they're gonna cry about how bad he is. There is still time for Norman to succeed. He can be very good. Just give the kid time to develop and be comfortable. Please!

I think we've done more during this offseason to give us a chance at winning the South this year than the other three teams.

It'll be between us and Atl just bc they have a franchise QB and two very good receivers on offense. TB wont win with Freeman and NO is just terrible on Defense. They don't have the personnel to switch to a 34. Dno why they are.

He's missed 8 games last year and about 3 in the 8 years before that. Now he's injury prone. I hear ya man, I disagree. You also said he's lost step, right? In what way? I havnt followed his career so im interested in hearing this.

He was a 4.4 guy earlier in his career I caught some of the lions games and he got torched last season, I also saw a couple san diego games when he played for them, he was mediocre at his best.

I'm comfortable with the Joshes... it's the Safeties that I'm more concerned with.

Yup. I'm more worry about who's going to play beside Godfrey. I'm not sure in Campbell and Mitchell may really just be a camp body. I haven't heard or seen anything from him until we signed him. I hope we got a steal in Robert Lester. I love that mam and hope and can take advantage of it.

      I don't know--they represent the entire body of players and this be determined, if it got to that point, by a vote of all veterans and rookies who are part of the union.  If the elite players are getting 50% of all cap increases, the non-elite players with shorter careers might want a bigger slice of the pie and vote accordingly.  To say that the Union would not go for it is not something I agree with--it would be the union that proposes it--based on a proposal and a majority vote.  If the veteran players vote for an equal distribution framework, then all 53 on a roster benefit from a cap increase that is applicable to the entire team.  Not sure how labor laws might be impacted...

      Oh well. That's his fault if he wants to eat up all the cap space and have no protection as a result. A big part of why Brady has all those rings is that he generally took team friendly deals. Not that he wasn't making a mega ass ton of money, but he wasn't leaving his team cap strapped due to his contract while Peyton Manning generally tried to negotiate for every dime he could get forcing the Colts to make tough decisions.
