Can you really blame analysts giving our draft so so grades?

CRA is right... I think Gettle drafted for need and looking into the future of the team long before BPA. Doesn't matter to me what he says and does really as long as it produces wins.

Who would you have picked at 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6? Please tell me. I have heard this view multiple times.

He wasn't complaining

I didn't say he was complaining. He said Gettleman was basing his picks off needs not BPA which I don't believe he was. I think the chips fell that way where it could be perceived as such. Also because i hear people scream for WR or CB or Safety in rounds 4,5 and 6 because they are immediate needs.

I was angry at the draft at first, but now it's making more sense. Short and Star could very well be the starting DTs by the end of hte year, if not next, with Dwan playing rotational, and being a fairly cheap back up. If this guard pans out, it makes the whole class. Barner allows us to follow the mold everyone else is using of having a late round RB that can be productive, and not overpaying the position. It just isn't yet cap feasible to cut lose of Double Trouble's contracts, but we're preparing for the transition when it is.

not being able to stop the run made every facet of our defense much worse than it should have been, and it made the offense worst by forcing them to score every time they got the ball because a failure to convert could easily mean another eight minutes of the opposing offense grinding out the clock.

we addressed what has philosophically been our biggest weakness over the past two seasons.

lol....how is saying Gettlemen addressed needs a conspiracy?

Gettlemen and Carolina certainly have needs at LB and RB...it's called prepping for 2014. Beason and Williams are as good as gone next year pending they don't take comical payouts. I understand Carolina generally doesn't deal with problems until they slap us in the face but Gettlemen was brought in here to solve this cap mess Hurney created.

To solve it....you look ahead. How do you think it gets fixed? You don't sit on your hands this first year and deal with all the mess in 2014.

They few guys the expert graders even acknowledged why we just happened to draft a LB and RB....it was just BPA. Plenty of guys grade out on boards as equal BPA values. They then look at the positions. 2014 we have out first real opportunity for Gettelmen to get out of some of the mess he was brought in to correct.

Beason is injury plaqued, comically expensive, and playing SLB...

Williams is old, comically expensive, and doesn't fit well in the diverse rush schemes we run....

parting with these fan favorites is a very realistic need in 2014. Realistic is finding bodies to replace them with now

I agree but you are saying you solve the problems completely for the departures with LB and RB in the 5th and 6th round? These are insurance policies that were BPA at those selected rounds. You are talking about pro-bowl caliber players leaving replaced by 5th and 6th round players? No one has yet to answer who would be a BPA at those picks. Look at the draft picks left, those were steals (BPA) because they had supreme talent for 5th and 6th round picks.

And i said you thought it was a conspiracy because of your overall views of Gettleman, claiming he wasn't all in on Cam, setting himself up to depart (not going all in) on Rivera, when you have semi-factual basis that can be looked at a variety of different ways. Some of which you stated was based on other posters twisting words. Hence, illuminati suggestions.

Here os the only problem I have with this. At what point does "the future" come. Next year we will be drafting a LT early to prepare for "the future" without Gross, then we will draft a center to prepare for "the future" without Kalil, just like our spending splurge in 2011 was also for "the future" at what point do we build for the right now and get players to win right now?

I will day this, I would have traded just one playoff season by signing veterans for 4 losing seasons that where "being built for the future"
