CREDIBILITY WATCH: David Gettleman

Gettleman's done all he could do with the shape we are in.

 

As far as drafting, well, sometimes, no matter what is done, its a great success or failure.

 

Panthers need a little luck  and someone to step up.  It's time.

 

In all reality, where would NE be without a little bit of luck with Brady...seriously...it does not happen often that the perfect QB is drafted in the late rounds for the perfect system and the stars align in the weakest division in football....or the perfect undrafted free agent QB (Warner / Delhomme) performs for the playoffs.

 

The Panthers need that kind of luck now........either with a draft pick, a free agent player,  a coach or a GM, someone capable of separating himself from the rest of the sheep that results in several years of a playoff run. .

If I had known that Trent Richardson was available for a 1st and Hurney was still our GM, with Stew on the PUP...

I mean considering the team is 4-3, the defense is ranked #3 overall, the talent he brought in given the cap situation....dude gets a solid A for the offseason, even if the team tanks the rest of the year.  He didn't hire Rivera and we all know what he's capable of.

I like the idea of making to the off season with all of your draft picks (plus 1) and money to work with. It's something we have not seen in a while.

That, and DG seems reluctant to trade picks, which is a refreshing change.

Hurney was an idiot and the only person who could not see it was JR.  Gettlemen has done in 8 months w/ no money what Hurney could not do in 2 years with about $70 million..  Gettlemen ended a 70 game streak of being without a winning record by putting good players in spots that used to be weaknesses.  He inherited a bad, overpaid team that was in Cap hell ($16 million over) and he made them competitive.  Sure some people are bitching because Cam does not have weapons or a stud OL, but step back.  We are in every game thanks to the defense he built with nothing.

 

I cannot think of a GM I would rather have.

He has build a competitive football team with no money.no high priced free agents and playing hardball with the players he wanted and got them all.I would say he is doing very good.
