Anyone catch Smitty this afternoon?

Some points:

- Rather have Mark Sanchez or half of Cam newton 10 times out of 10 over The Golden Calf of Bristol circus coming to Charlotte.

- Says the CB's a few years ago in New England were literally WR's and they had no business playing CB, yet the front 7 made the defense extremely good.

- Star and Short should be considered "Playmakers" even though they dont play "Sexy" positions.

- The armchair GM's need to chill out, because most dont know what they are talking about. Said it was a great draft for Carolina, and will no doubt help the defense improve.

-Leave the scouting to the professionals, and stop scouting from your computer desk.

-The media and "Experts" need to man up and admit they are wrong about picks.

Dont mess with Smitty's team...or he will make you pay. Tore Marc James apart for saying it was a bad draft.

Will post more in a minute.

i don't disagree with the above.

i like the draft. i just wish we had picked up another receiver (either WR or TE) early and that we had another early pick to do it with.

in Smiths defense, theres nothing worse than having a 12 minute drive down the field to come out with a hard earned FG only to watch the defense give up a TD in less than 30 seconds.

and having your HC hand out an invitation to score rather than keep the ball in your offenses hands.

the defense should never have been put in that situation to begin with. you don't give the other team the ball with time left on the clock and only being up by one TD or less. i don't care who you have on defense or how much you trust them.

agreed. this starting out slow thing isn't anyway to prove we've got playmakers.

and if we do, then how is shula going to bring it out of them? what exactly is he going to do to maximize the talent and supposed playmaking ability of this team? by running an old school traditional ball control offense?

im just tired of all this talking, from a lot of guys on the team. shut up and prove to me then because the evidence(games) says different.

The annoying thing about this "we didn't get any playmakers" deal is that the assumption is that we didn't help the offense one bit. Remember in 2011 when the offense was scoring like 30 points a game and guys were making plays left and right but the defense couldn't stop South Meck's JV squad because Greg Hardy hadn't arrived yet and the DTs were on skates?

agreed. i esp. agree in regards to the coaching staff as well.

you say you can be dominant. you say you can win. prove it. do it when it matters. do it when you've got a chance. do it consistently. until they prove it and back it up on the field for a year, i'm not buying it. make me believe.

it's just unfortunate that we have to wait so long before they can do anything about it. until then i just hope they are getting their crap together.

i do think we have the personnel on the roster to have a winning season, maybe not dominant, but enough to win. we are missing a piece or two for the long term in the WR corps and the secondary to be truly dominant.

We got FA receivers that are just as good if not better than any receivers we could have drafted. We are fine at WR and we completely beefed up our defense which I'm extremely excited about.

I want to be great at WR, not just "fine".

I like the draft, especially after hindsight, but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that Ginn and Hixon are equal or better than what we could have drafted. No one can say that with any surety. Time will have to tell that story.

Actually, I think Hixon could be great, he did play behind some pretty good receivers in NY. He just needs a chance to be the man.
