I totally agree with you Anybodyhome

maybe if we stopped making it such a big deal, it wouldn't be such a big deal!!!!!

Sorry Hawk but this is your cure for racism as well...you may not care or it may not be that big of a deal in Canada but here gays are still denied benefits and rights. When people come out that are in the limelight they help kids who have those same feelings feel like they are not outcasts.

I'm sure you would do anything for your kids to feel like they belonged in this world so instead of being annoyed by the adults think about the kids they are helping

Gays are denied benefits or gay couples are denied them? Not exactly the same thing. Not like anyone isnt allowed to vote, bare arms, or anything else as an individual. You shouldnt have special rights because you are gay and you shouldnt have special rights because you arent.

I agree that there shouldn't be special rights for any group just as you can agree that there should not be rights or privileges granted to one group but denied another.

Bare Arms? Like tank tops?

I wasnt arguing with any thing you said, just didnt really like the way it was worded.

Also is it not bare is it bear? I dunno

Another thing to think about. Not only is it imperative for gay professional athletes to come out because of the affect it has on gay kids who need a role model or some sort of strength to look to. But, we live in a straight society. Everyone is deemed as straight until it is either said or it is somehow known (flamboyancy, although the gay friends I have you couldn't necessarily distinguish). So asking someone to keep it to themselves, whether it be a friendship, acquaintance or profession is ridiculous. Gay people have to come out because it is not the norm. Think about the everyday conversations you have with people.
