NFL AM worst NFC draft

I think we're using the same rebuilding method as the Rams. Get the franchise QB, build a strong defense to compete and then go all out in drafting WRs in one draft. Next year is the time we go all out in drafting WRs. But unlike the Rams we're not stuck between a rock(the Hawks) and hard place(the 9ers).

How's that working out for them? And our division is no slouch. We have the toughest schedule because of them

You named 4 rbs. How do they help the receivers get open? More often then not only one of those 4 will be on the field at one time. Again Smitty is 34 in 5'9 can't keep putting it on his shoulders every year until he finally burns out. When he does we are screwed. What we need to do is get his replacement while he is still on the team.

Super Bowl teams trade their aging wrs for a 6th round pick. Losing teams expect their aging WR to be the savior.

Run game opens the passing game! Screens out of the backfield.........numerous ways! Besides an oft headached Harvin, Vikings had no one.........still made it to the playoffs! Not saying we don't need a number 1 WR because we do! Smith is pretty much done! He only caught half of what was thrown his way while Lafell was about 2/3. That number 1 WR was not in this draft though

I didn't say it was working out. Just similar strategy.

Because there was a Julio Jones in this draft.

Yeah and Brady went 199, Victor Cruz, etc etc

By not drafting a WR at least in the 4-7th rounds, you aren't even taking a shot on a guy. That's the issue, that not even a single guy was taken.

The analysts know we have Steve Smith, and that's about it. No big name signings, and you can't really blame them for thinking we didn't address a position.

Well see the problem with that is defenses put 8 men in the box and cover our wrs 1 on 1 because their not afraid not to. Outside of Steve Smith there is nobody that your afraid of. Smitty is 34 he's still good but he dropped a lot of balls last year. We need playmakers that put fear in defenses.

Sorry, but he doesn't wow me. He isn't a game changer. How long do you keep a guy around and wait for him to become that guy? Two years? Three? Five?

When you have guys who are just "solid" or "decent" or "ok," whats the point? They will reach a ceiling eventually. And while you are waiting for that to happen, you are not giving other guys shots, or not bringing in anyone else at all.

There are guys like Julio Jones, and you just know. They have that x-factor, something special about them. You can see it, it is tangible, and they develop pretty quickly.

Lafell doesn't give you that "wow" feeling, nothing like it.

Personally I don't mind that we didn't go after a WR prospect in the draft, whatever. But the NFL AM guys are looking at us and saying, "who else but Steve Smith?" That's because while we may have a decent #2, he is only decent.

And I hate to beat a dead horse, but Smitty can't do it forever. Keep kicking the can down the road, whatever, but Lafell isn't a #1, and if we draft a #1 WR prospect later, nothing is certain, and THEN we are still in the same boat; #1 and then a "decent" #2. It is tiring.

If Cam had a Roddy White / Julio Jones, good effing luck to people who play us. Instead we settle. I don't like settling.

there wasn't a receiver in this draft that would have gave us that. Thank you fir your suggestion.

We ranked 14th against the run while we had the16th ranked passing offense....

what were the ratings if offenses and defenses that have won the last ten superbowls.

Figure out their rating before playoffs, then during playoffs, and get back to me. Otherwise you are just throwing numbers around.

When Cam had time we moved the ball. Our WR's got open when Cam had the time. I know everyone thinks the grass is greener on the other side when it comes to our WR core, but talent is there. It could be argued that Ginn and Hixon could bring in more production then any receiver we could have drafted. Hixon is a good player, he's not garbage. The offensive inconsistency we had at times last year was because of inconsistencies in OL personnel, mainly because of injuries there. Also at times the team completely quit running the football because of Chud. The Panthers are going to return to their roots next year by running the football more, that's why we drafted Kug in the fourth. This draft says a lot about the direction and philosophy Gettleman is trying to build here. We're bigger with more line depth. I like it.

Didn't Kiper give us an "A" for the Clausen draft? Yeah, fug him! I feel better with him giving us a "C"

No weapons?

Dwill

JStew

The Bowling Ball

Steve Smith

Thor

Lafell

Barner

Maybe, a possible breakout WR.

Could it be better? Yes. But if he can't put points on the board with that then we need to start looking for another QB. A good QB will make a WR look good and vice versa! Next Year's Draft seems to have some good WR talent. We have enough to make it through this year

It is still deceptive to list 4 RBs....when 97% of the time just 1 is on the field.

So on field talent...

RB, Smith, Olsen, LaFell.
