Well I like Hixon, but the first thing he needs to do is stay healthy. We also have David Gettis who hasn't seen real playing time since John Fox was still coaching the team. Add in an aging Steve Smith and a hot/cold Lafell, how can anyone stand there and say with a straight face that RB was a bigger immediate need than WR? I'm just going to do what I have grown accustomed to with Hurney being here all those years, and that is hope for the best.

Last I checked he was healthy all last season and is healthy right now.

Why the hell is everyone pissed at this draft?

#14 Star Lotulelei. Will probably be the best DT we have had since Jenkins. Will be a defensive monster.

#44 Kawann Short. Future replacement for Dwan Edwards and insurance on Lotulelei's heart problem.

#108 Edmund Kugbila. Adds depth. Not our best pick but I don't hate it.

#148 A.J Klein. Very good pick, perfect insurance we need on Beason, also he is clearly bringing sexy back TPBUQBHXMOANYKZ.20120427163720.jpg

#182 KenJon Barner. Our steal of the draft.. Could be the answer to DWill's contract problem or Stewart's glass ankle.

I'm not seeing why people are mad at this draft? you don't always get what you want.

Besides the dumb Guard pick it was a great draft. Most seem to be rating it B+ or so.

Back to back ACL tears in 2010 and 2011. He was also injured a couple times in 2012, concussion and ankle.

He was a big part of Giants offense last yr and stepped in and played well for injured Hicks.

As of now he is healthly and ready to go.

Ill worry about injuries if and when they happen.

I am assuming you mean Nicks, not Hicks? I am rooting for Hixon as a Panther, but let's not put blinders on.

I'm satisfied with this draft. If they feel that the guard they selected in the fourth has a ton of upside, then I'll trust that (what the hell do I know.) If you're looking for starters past the second/third round your team is probably in trouble anyway. After those rounds I think you basically should be looking for future potential/back ups/future starters/special teams players, etc.

It also seems, like some have said, that all the WRs they worked out was because they were actually trying to find one, but the value may not have been there.

The Panthers could not fix all of their problems with 5 draft picks and cap space issues in free agency.

What Gettleman had to do was like triage in the hospital, stop the bleeding, and keep the near dead alive to give them a chance to survive.

A great Dline that stops that QB from having greater than 4 seconds to throw the ball will fix a lot of the secondary problems until it can be upgraded.

He considered the contract situation next year and tried to prepare for it.

He did not reach for WRs that may or may not make it...and there is more than one in that category this year. Next year projects better and he does have a 3rd round pick.

There are also cuts after June 1st and cuts after Sept 1st to improve this team.

This is not Madden.

Take a look at the teams who win the SuperBowl. For the most part, they almost always have great lines moreso then they have great WRs. When is the last time Calvin Johnson played int he Superbowl? Football is decided in the trenches. Teams that have great trenches go far. Teams that don't, don't. Brady, Kapernick, Flacco, etc, all day, all night to stand there like statues to find the 3rd receiver...not the second, the 3rd.

Hopefully by fixing the Panthers dline, they won't be every QBs highlight reel for the year.

You missed the Hixon signing? Did you not see what he could do last yr given burn?

Hix looks like he runs precise patterns. And he obviously has good hands. Great size too.

I suspect the consecutive ACL injuries have robbed him of any top-end speed, however.

There were a lot of comments from Gettles where he was saying that this guy and that guy didnt fit stylistically. If you can really go deeper into that you will find your answer. That receiver selection looked very iffy to me from what I was reading. Austin was gone so that wasnt even a question. Who else was gonna groom for 89? Apparently the coaches didnt see any of those dudes being a more worthwhile prospect than the picks we put in.

We still have so many questions that need to be answered with the horizontal group of receivers we have. Every year its nerve wracking to wait and see if anyone is gonna break out and every year someone starts ballin . . . then gets injured. There are literally 4 average to possibly very fuggin good guys behind our front two on this roster. If you have a lot of guys competing at the same level and only got so many reps to go around, its going to be harder to get in rhythm. Guys gotta train and learn, it would be rough competing with so few attempts.

People get so wrapped up in how a players numbers dont look great instead of watching what the players are doing with their reduced numbers of attempts. Really, some of our receivers have done very very well in the time that theyve been healthy.
