I think our secondary could be historically bad

Those type rankings are flawed...we also sucked against the run and sucking at that make your pass D appear on paper better

We were 14th against the run. We were middle of the pack in both, and because neither was particularly horrible, we finished with a top 10 ranking in total defense. Our run defense should be vastly improved, with our new defensive front and healthy LB corps.

Our secondary improved dramatically in the second half of the season, if you weren't able to see their improvement then there is no hope for this debate. We've added competition to the position and at worst, solid depth. There's no reason to not be optimistic of an improved defense across the board.

I think out run D will be better.

Pass D will be an issue with what we have right now....when the rush doesn't get there. Pass rush wasn't an issue last year. Not realistic for the rush to get there enough to mask our lack of talent for a season.

Yes, but, they're not that bad. Our pass rush is only going to improve this year and our linebackers will be better in coverage with a healthy, more athletic corps. Our pass defense was average to good in the second half last year. There's absolutely no reason to believe that they will regress, and more than one reason to believe that they will actually be improved.

I have heard from more than one Panthers employee that Josh Norman had a lot to do with why they were not concerned as much with CB. Early word is he took his benching the right way, ie motivation to get it back.

things did get better late n the season, not good, but better.

what has happened this offseason has made the secondary better. we added experience to safety and CB, norman has improved...at least according to one of the best personnel guys in the league who didn't draft a CB when he had several chances.

more than anything, the front seven got better. beason should be healthy and TD should still be healthy, we added chase blackburn, added another big tackle guy who can play any LB position thru the draft (and this guy was a steal), and keek has a year under his belt and another offseason. and what has happened to the DL in the adding of the big run stuffing/multiple blocker eater and short who is basically a younger version of dwan, who is still here...a big DT who can get to the QB just makes things really good on the DL.

a front seven like this makes the secondary better. if you can't see how vital the front 7 is for the secondary's success or failure, you honestly can't be helped.

i do wish we had added more talent to the secondary, but this secondary is going to be far from being historically bad. keep on with the melodrama, tho.

the lack of additions to the CBs in the draft just backs this up.

That's awesome news! Five of the six worst secondaries of all time went to the playoffs, and one went to the Super Bowl! The two worst ever were the 2011 Packers and Patriots!

Seriously, people, get a grip.

This guy gets it.

After holing up and watching film our Gm, a 26 year pro-personel guy, said he didn't see any glaring holes on this team. I think I trust that assessment. It's not like an ex-beat writer made that statement.

Yes...because we all know that your ranking and stat that includes nothing more than your opinion is sooooooooo much more valid and accurate.

Admit it....you have ZERO to support your claim.
