Gettleman is the Honeybadger of GM's

If we are going by superficial bullshit like his arrogance in interviews and so on then we have a problem.

If we start losing, then that stuff will backfire.

See: people shitting on John Fox for being an gumchewing clapping tard and praising RR for being the polar opposite....

and then shitting on RR for being a stoic asshole to the point of making an advicedog meme

You may have recognized before that I'm an Auburn guy.

But, being an Auburn guy, I have to admit that the thing I most admire about Bama fans is that no matter what, whether their team is up, whether their team is down, before the first ball is snapped in the first game of the season, in their opinion they are CHAMPIONS until proven differently.

They could have gone 5-7 the previous year, but when the next year comes around, they are CHAMPIONS until they lose a game (and sometimes not even then).

Many people (mostly cynics) call that being delusional. I call it being a FAN.

And the thing that irritates me worst about both my Carolina Panthers and my Auburn Tigers is that, in general, the fans would rather be cynical and pessimistic about their teams to protect their delicate feelings and sensibilities rather than to have hope and show confidence every damn year.

That may be because that is the definition of delusional

Holy poo do people always look for something to be negative about? This teams biggest weakness was not having a decent DT line up and being gashed by the run through the middle. This draft fixed that problem. Now you have interior competency and superior pass rush VIA the middle. This instantly upgrades the lb core and secondary.

Gettleman has done very well considering the clusterfug of a situation Hurney left. No cap room, 5 bullets in the chamber and Gettleman has been on fire. But nope, let's be negative and Bitch Bitch Bitch..

What? Completley missing the point...

No one is bitching.

I am going to sit here an wait and see what the future holds before I do anything...how is that negative or bitching?

DT is 'fixed', and other problems we have ignored could be more of an issue than we think or they might not. THe point is the same as it has been all along, let's wait and see then react instead of turning the huddle into a biopolar meltdown everytime all these eternal optimists get dissapointed.

Trying to define a 'real fan' is one of the most supid things anyone can do. It's equivilent to internet e-penis fighting.

Some fans just want a team to cheer for that makes them happy. Some, like me, want my team to win and be successful that brings me happiness and confidence. Has nothing to do with being a 'bigger or real' fan, that is not something someone can measure.

Get over yourself and realize not all fans are like you, doesn't make them less of a fan or beneath you in any way. Being cynical as nothing to do with feelings, it's the mind simply questioning and analyzing what is going on, but honestly being cynical has absolutley nothing to do with nor is connected in anyway to one's fanhood, and your argument makes zero sense.

Is there anything you can point to that makes his philosophy different from his?

Not saying he is going to be Hurney 2.0 just that so far I don't see a difference. We drafted LB, RB, and linemen, despite other needs. So how is he different?

Well maybe this is is a crazy notion to some people here but i'm going to reserve premature judgement on a first year GM until this team has actually played some football games. We haven't even had training camp yet.

Me too. I'm not gonna say he's just like Hurney this early, just that the decisions we've made so far are worrisome.

Common sense equals arrogance according to you? LOL

Fixing a weakness and using FA to help other areas equals being like Hurney.

Not providing anything to help your arguments sake equals winning.

Ooo wee mayne.

It's funny to read my posts through the eyes of someone so obsessed with me such as yourself.

Please keep misrepresenting my posts.

Dallas got a receiving TE, they improved. Jets have Cromartie and Wilson at CB and nothing behind that. It's safe to think their new CB can at least be a nickel so they likely improved as well.

This could be a valid argument. I just find it dumb when people say "well we got better" after a draft when it is almost impossible to not get better unless you have no picks. Even Hurney's worse draft made us a better team. That statement alone means basically nothing.

Both teams will not improve there records and if you dont do that you dont improve. You just stay still.

Name a Marty Hurney draft where the day after people overall here didn't think we nailed it?

2010 and the year we moved up for that shitty FSU DE. Those are the only two where I wasn't at least partially hype. I hate trading away future picks.
