Can someone help me out, what is the difference between the official list and unofficial list?

 

Are some of the guys just tryout players or something?

 

Exactly. Unofficial list we were just going off of Twitter announcements. The official list are guys we are going to give contracts to.

 

DE Bryan Jean-Pierre was on the unoffical list but he's actually just a tryout guy. The punter from Colorado State and the FB from Wofford is tryout as well.

I was wondering why the Panthers signed Michael Avila for a second offseason, because as I recall he did nothing last year in camp to warrant being asked back. 

 

Then I checked his bio. Apparently he is Ron Rivera's nephew.

So, after the camp invites and the official signings, there are still two names from the unofficial list that are unaccounted for: 


  • Bryan Jean-Pierre DL William & Mary
  • Tyler Morgan LS Georgia Tech

Jean-Pierre has made a couple Twitter posts about joining the Panthers.

Ok, I don't typically put much stock into Bleacher, but at least it's something on Morgan.

Three of Tech's undrafted seniors were signed as free agents after the conclusion of the draft: Defensive tackle T.J. Barnes signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, defensive lineman Izaan Cross with the Buffalo Bills and cornerback Rod Sweeting with the New Orleans Saints.  

 

Long snapper Tyler Morgan and running back Orwin Smith were both invited to NFL camps with the possibility of also being signed as rookie free agents at the conclusion of their respective camps.  

 

Morgan will attend camp for the Carolina Panthers, while Smith will be working out with the Tampa Bay Bucs.  

 

Seems somewhat reliable since he knew that three were signed and the other two are just tryouts. You can never tell though...

      At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
