Going on year 3 for Cam, and we still don't have a WR for him to grow with. Plus, we did not address the secondary, which is in dire need of talent. Felt like we should've been looking for Smith's replacement first, instead of Dwan's. I liked the acquisition of Star, though.

It cracks me up people here dissing Gettleman and this draft when he's forgotten more football in the past hour than 99% that post here know.

The same could be said for Matt Millen. Didn't keep him from royally screwing the pooch.

We didn't do what I would've done after #14, but I hope they prove to be the right moves.

Which receiver did Brady grow with?

And Brees?

And Rodgers?

Eli?

Roeth?

Wait what they won superbowls? How is that? Surely Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, TO and Larry Fitzgerald would have won them more.

Gave it an A-. I didn't really have any horse in this race for a particular player, which made it easier to see the picks and realize what G-Man was doing. Overall, I liked it, and get a feeling that he's building for "down-the-line". Nobody can tell you what the future will hold for our team, so if injuries happen, he's gotten a good amount of coverage to work from. He's hedging his bets with the FAs we brought in, in that our front 7 will demolish anything sent against them, while on offense building the line to give Cam time to throw and develop. I like it.

I honestly feel we'll be looking to WR or S in the first next year, with more corners and a TE or two in the 2014 draft. This year was about bringin in big guys to fill the trenches. That should always come first... skill players second. Without the lines, we'll lose the battles we need to win.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that we can't draft Smittys replacement if they don't feel like he was in this draft. Overall the WRs and QBs were unusually weak in this draft, while the OL and DL were considered very talented and deep. Drafting exclusively for need and trying to fill holes rather than taking the most talented players is what got us in the situation we have been for the past couple years.

I for one think it is refreshing that we now have a GM that takes what the draft gives us rather than trying to make the draft fit our needs.

I don't have any doubt that Gettleman will find Smittys replacement when he feels that guy is in the draft...this year was not that year.

I found this to be incredibly ignorant and short sighted. How is the result of a luck-based situation the sole determining factor in whether or not a GM is defined as "good."

The only way to define a good GM is when the trade up for a player like GB/Clay and SF/Aldon.

Just based on my opinions of players/filling our needs I'd go:

1st - A+

2nd - B+

4th-6th - C

But those last three I'm willing to give Gettleman the benefit of the doubt because they seem to be picks for the future rather than right now (and that's how good teams are built) with Beason and Deangelo's contracts being problems in the near future. Besides, as has already been said numerous times, you don't often find guys that contribute right away that late in the draft anyway. Yea, I wanted Rambo and I think he coulda been a big contributor right away, but Gettleman apparently disagreed. Good enough for me.

I gave it a B overall.

Well, we didn't fill a lot of needs, but then again, did you really think that a 6th round safety was gonna solve all our problems at that position? It's better to think of the draft just as a way of getting talent. I'm very excited about the players we got.

I give it a B, have been on Short's jock since forever and have called him the superior pass rushing DT in this class (echoed by our GM) thats right over Floyd and Rich. The first two picks couldn't have gone any better, I was crossing my fingers for Star, but will admit was hoping for a WR or S somewhere in the mid rounds. Like the Kugbila pick, he was a riser, real mauler. Barner was a good BPA pick....the only one that I didn't care too much for was Klein.

and then again how much football is there to know? Boy throws ball, boy catches ball, boy hits boy who catches ball.
