Why won't Gettleman pull the trigger for the Secondary?

I thought the same thing when we went for Klein instead of Hawthorne, the CB. But, I believe that Gettleman has enough confidence in Florence and in either Thomas or Norman to really solidify the starting CB positions. Nickel is totally covered with Captain, DJ Moore, and whoever does make it into the starting rotation.

That's great, but our safety's are far from "totally covered." FAR from it.

Godfrey is more than serviceable at either of the S positions. (I think he's proven that he's more of a FS, though, which is odd). It's the SS position that really has us wondering what to do. Could Campbell compete? Sure, why not. I think the hope is that our CBs play decent, our front 7 is other wordly good, and then Godfrey teaches Campbell, and we'll be set? I dunno if it'll work though.

31 other teams have passed on them as well. I guess no NFL playoffs for anyone this year.

I'm not saying he's getting us to the playoffs. I'm saying being to scared to take a chance on a potential stud that will help improve our team won't get us anywhere.

Seriously, why do people act like Gettleman doesnt know what he is doing? This guy is coming from a team that just won 2 superbowls in the last 6 years. He isnt some GM who was a reporter before he got in the football business. I trust he knows what he is doing. He is a FOOTBALL guy.

How many other teams have a WR core and secondary as poor and unproven as ours? I can't think of one. Hence why, we should not pass on that type of talent.

Right look at san fran there loaded at wr and still took patton while we took a back up fuging lber our skill positions have a ? Mark at every position besides wr1 and whereever they decide to play godfrey and we add no talent at any of those positions (as of yet) and seem content taking guys that will hardly see the field because we are already set at that position idk I was on the fence with the 4th rd pick but man this draft is getting hard to support

This division is stacked with quarterbacks and wide receivers and passing on some of the talent that has fallen is truly mind blowing. Low risk, high reward but this franchise has always been too scared to pull the trigger to potentially get us over the top.

There are still starters at skill positions to be had on both sides of the ball because of character issues but we will take an offensive or defensive linemen that won't see the field.

True, but he also was the GM of that team. We can't give him all the credit in the world for taking New York to the Super Bowl.

Also, Eli Manning had a lot to do with that, as well.

remember gettleman's background is in free agency, and remember we have a cool 5-6 million in cap space. instead of reaching based on need, gettleman's grabbing excellent players that can contribute, and we're set up to fill whatever holes are left over with some of that cash. i won't be surprised at all if we address CB and S in the free agency pool between now and august.

No you dont, but HE WAS APART OF THAT PHILOSOPHY. And he has said that since day 1. And when is the last time a QB hasnt had a lot to do with there team reaching the superbowl? Thats not the point. He wants to build this team like the one in New York because it has proven to win. What other insurance do you need? Teams arent built in one draft anyway.
