I understand the pick but it seemed like a luxury selection and we still have glaring holes in the secondary and OL.

Still need a WR.

Hopefully I will feel better about it after today's choices.

Perhaps Gettis and Bryant are showing more promise than we thought. Although, I wonder why we worked out so many WRs.

I always wanted to say this..(not really)...Smokescreen!

Some people are never happy. Edwards is in his 30s and doesn't have but a few years left in him to play. Short play behind Dwan and learn from him. Then once Dwan is gone in 2 years or less. Depending if he stays healthy. Short will be prepare to go and can start on the other side of Star. Gettleman knows what he is doing. Look at the Gmen front line as an example. Enough said.

So your logic is that we need Short to step in because Edwards in his 30s? LOL

Steve Smith will be 34 at the start of the season. Gross is on the other side of his career. I don't know who our starting RG is and neither do you. I don't know who our Starting CB or Safety is and neither do you.

But lets double up on a position that was solid after drafting Star. Then you pack it up until Saturday. That's awful

You know it's bad if people are hoping for Josh Norman to start. That man lost a couple of games by himself. Mainly the Bears game and the Atl game come to mind. Naku gets a lot of blame and he should but Norman got burned on that play to Roddy White.

Norman was a rookie; Naka, a seasoned pro. Just saying.

This year will make or break Norman as far as I'm concerned.

i can see why we got Short, but i would have rather seen another position. the first 3 picks this year where all on the same side(counting Alexander), so i can see why the o-side was getting antsy. plus Billick said it weeks ago, Cam is the forgotten man here in carolina. get your QB some help, more weapons and some protection is vital for this team to be successful. we have to go WR early today, and early next year in the draft because 5 WR contracts are up in 2014. I look back at other teams and see them building around their QB, i look at the panthers and i dont see that. but our DL is going to be hell.

Our oline was garbage when he was playing

Silatolu was a rookie. He got much better as the year went on. Also, much of the problems were scheme. Shula isn't going to imploy that idiotic scheme for 90% of the plays this year. Our O line will be alot better this year with all the same pieces, if healthy. Watch and see. If they aren't I'll be suprised. Continuity with the O line means a great deal.

I was suprised to read we took Short, on the other hand:

- This pick allows us to put insane pressure, every snap during the full length of the game. Don't expect us to hand out the games at defence like we did last year in the end (of the game).

- He's a beast and an absolute steal at #44.

I am curious if we would have taken Cyprien if he was available.

If you look at the Accorsi/Reese Giants rosters, the best ones were built with DL depth, such that the line comes with waves and waves of pressure.throughout the game. Looks like Gettleman brought that with him to Charlotte

Exactly.

Just about the time most DL's become gassed (4th qtr), the Giants DL just keeps coming.

I would have been happy with a good S or DB in the 2nd. But, I also see the strategy with Star and Short.
