Summary

Star softly talking about Smitty and Gross both text their fellow Utah brother welcoming him.

Q: What makes you the best DT in this draft?

A: The coaches drilled me on picking up schemes as well as workouts and was impressive. My strength and explosiveness seperate me from the other DTs.

Q: What do you think about the potential of this team? Playoffs?

A: Definitely, I will step in and help out to make his team get to the playoffs.

What was it like to meet Smitty? Who raved about Star..

Star lit up and laughed how Smitty supports the team and visits regularly and loves to work with him.

Q What do you think about moving so far away to NC?

A: it's crazy but and we do not know what to expect so we will look at everything as we just landed.

Thanks and welcomes..he sounds like a new dad who flew east.

Welcome to the Panthers Mr. Lotuleilei now break some lame NFC South QB azz!

Nothing but a soft Q n A with him but cool to hear the big guy who will be at the Jordan Gross kickball game this weekend.

Missed it. Will definitely catch the audio when it's posted.

These guys, though. They're on talking about trading down, and one of them even brought up the idea of Mathieu in the second.

Lord, they're idiots

Pushing for the Honey Badger is as bad as if someone pushing for a HB or DE.

We have 3 Nickle Cbs already lol..with no history of drug problems.!!

It is just the football star syndrome....guys love big names.

I want to make it to the kickball game...as Star tears his ACL running to first base..uggh...sorry the mental picture of this hurts.

I was forced to watch the draft on ESPN. At one point Gruden got agitated when a CB went off the board (think it was Trufant to ATL) and went on a rant about Mathieu - to the effect that he couldn't believe he wasn't the pick/wasn't in play in the first. How whenever he watched tape of Claiborne and Peterson he was more impressed with Honey Badger. Then he went off on some Youtube tangent.

Kiper of all people had to step in, insert a little sanity, and inform viewers that Mathieu wouldn't be in consideration until the end of the second at the very earliest.

Star presser live @6p ET on Panthers.com

Awesome thanks for the heads up. Guy seems like a low key individual off the field and a family man that just wants to provide for his wife and children which is great so it'll be interesting to see how he is in front of the camera with reporters asking questions and what not.

Glad to you have you here Star! Welcome to Charlotte and lets get this Lombardi Trophy!

Cool. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is personality matches. Star is gonna love Rivera as a coach (both soft-spoken individuals).

The thing I'm most excited about is not only what Star gives us now, but what he gives us in the future. The guy has so much potential it's scary.

    • There's some big assumptions in here - first, I think Canales HAS helped Bryce a poo ton. To pretend he hasn't is asinine. Has he fixed him?  I mean, the dude looks like he could perhaps be a backup or low-end starter now, whereas he looked like he didn't belong in the NFL a year ago. You're talking about a coach that brought one of the worst NFL QBs of all time to a point where he may actually be a low-end starter. That IS impressive. Second, the bolded. Come on - given the offense, the dude is far from "trending towards bust." He definitely needs work but he's shown an impressive ability to get open. He's contributing to an anemic offense. The dude is our leading receiver (though he'll be #2 in yardage by end of season by a little, as Thielen does better per game).  As to his coaching, he had this team competing and believing against 3 of the better teams in the NFL, despite the lack of talent, and despite our QB situation.  Yes, things fell apart vs DAL, and he was outcoached. But that will happen with young coaches IMO.  I don't think it indicates he cant' be better. The idea of "pulling off the bandage" is ridiculous. Who would want to coach here if we fired this guy after one season?
    • Whatever they are in totality the cowboys are beat up all to hell on both sides of the ball and even that was too much for lil Bryce to overcome.  Bryce defenders have to hype up every other team and trash every other part of the panthers just because of the situation they’ve put themselves in.
    • JB had a first round grade in the eyes of a lot scouts based on HIS TALENT LEVEL. If not for the injury he would have gone higher in the draft, possibly between the middle and the end of round 1. To get him just before the 50th pick is a steal. He'd be on a 4 year deal. You can't even renegotiate until the end of the season 3. You're basically paying him nothing for 3 seasons. I don't buy into all back are interchangeable. No they're not. You have average backs, good backs, then your great-exceptional backs. The latter category doesn't grow on trees. If a back is special it pays to keep them. The key is knowing the difference between the first two categories and the third one.
