Who will they double team?

I'm not saying I don't agree with you, because his pass rushing moves need some work but.....

2012

Sharrif Floyd: 3 sacks

Sheldon Richardson: 4 sacks

Barkevious Mingo 4.5 sacks

Ziggy Ansah 4.5 sacks

Dion Jordan: 5 sacks

Star Lotulelei: 5 sacks

Obviously this doesn't account for QB pressures, but as far as getting to the Quarterback Star is on par or better than the players who were regarded as better pass rushers that were selected around his pick....

This is why I did not understand all of the love for the DEs early. Dion Jordan, for example. #3 overall. Trade up for him. Mingo. Top 10 or so. Ansah--raw and good at the Senior Bowl.

KAWANN SHORT HAD 7 SACKS HIS SENIOR YEAR AND HE WAS NEARLY ALWAYS DOUBLE TEAMED. HE PLAYED PART OF THE YEAR ON A BAD ANKLE. THEY CALLED HIM "INCONSISTENT", WHICH IS WHY HIS STOCK DROPPED. Sorry for yelling.

Hardy?

Johnson?

Star?

You can't double team them all. We are going to finally have pressure from just the front four.

That being the case, wait and see how our secondary magically improves by leaps and bounds.

They are doomed!

1200 LBS of problems !

This has no real relevance to the topic. Even if he doesn't pass rush much, he still will have to be double teamed or he'll bull rush a single blocker straight back into the QB.

There is plenty of evidence to that....even the GM admitted he has to be taught to be a pass rusher. Utah even took him off the field in some games bc of how one dimensional his pass rush game is.

He may face double teams down the road as he develops.

Hardy, CJ, Short, Star.....on a 3rd and long Star isn't the guy right now you worry about doubling since he is the weakest pass rusher of that group

This specific discussion about Star is somewhat moot. Even if Star's rush skills need work at this level now you have Hardy, CJ, Alexander, Dwan, Short, and even Keiser can rush a bit. Problem for the offense still exists, as it did for the final stretch of last year. The difference now is depth - the rush is much less likely to vanish when guys rotate.

No team in their right mind would leave Star 1 on 1 even on passing downs. He may not be able to get to the quarterback but he'll put the center or guard right in his lap every time. Now line him up against Dwan or Kawann whose specialty is pass rush, and they'll need double attention too. Then throw a TE or HB at one of the DEs and someone will likely always be left 1 on 1. As long as whoever gets left alone consistently brings pressure this defense will be hellish for QBs.

Depends on who the guard is. Star is still going to be a rookie who is adapting to the strength of the NFL, so guys like Carl Nicks, Josh Sitton, and Jahri Evans can definitely handle him 1 v 1 along with a good amount of others. Besides, it isn't as simple as just pushing the other guy back. Technique and all goes into it. That is why Star himself said he needs to improve at pass rushing. He has no moves, hence why yes, he can be single blocked on a passing down if all he is looking to do is bull rush.

Not even saying Star is a bad pass rusher or anything. I think he can and will improve in that regard. But lets not forget he's still going to be a rookie so he'll still have flaws.

You constantly suck on multiple levels.

I have never seen a positive post from you concerning this team.

My sampling quantity probably allows me a 95% confidence level ( I would go into drunk detail of statistics but it is a waste of both of mine and your limited time left on earth and p levels would escape you) in saying you should choose another team to cheer for.

In short...WTF is your problem?

If you are a female I apologize, but I was under the impression you were a guy.

You seem very angry about this. I suspect something non-NFL related is bothering you. If you ever need to talk about it, I'm here for you.
