Who will they double team?

Hardy?

Johnson?

Star?

You can't double team them all. We are going to finally have pressure from just the front four.

That being the case, wait and see how our secondary magically improves by leaps and bounds.

Star doesn't really pass rush....

Tecnically correct... however....

His job is to push up inside and prevent the QB from stepping up and away from Johnson and Hardy. To keep him from doing that, he will need to be double teamed. That leaves Johnson/Hardy in much better position.

I'm not saying I don't agree with you, because his pass rushing moves need some work but.....

2012

Sharrif Floyd: 3 sacks

Sheldon Richardson: 4 sacks

Barkevious Mingo 4.5 sacks

Ziggy Ansah 4.5 sacks

Dion Jordan: 5 sacks

Star Lotulelei: 5 sacks

Obviously this doesn't account for QB pressures, but as far as getting to the Quarterback Star is on par or better than the players who were regarded as better pass rushers that were selected around his pick....

Exactly what I was thinking. If our D-Line stays healthy it will be a menace. Double team at your own risk.

It's also suddenly deep now.:

1 tech: Star, Cole, Kearse

3 tech: Dwan, Kearse

DE: CJ, Hardy, Alexander, Keiser

Holy poo.

He isn't much a of a pass rusher...pretty sure he even admits it. He isn't here to be that that so it doesn't matter. He is here so we aren't a joke up the middle and to actually make people around him better.....which we haven't had in years.

Watch 4 games of Star and Floyd each...and one of them penetrates and goes after the QB. Sacks don't really tell the full story.

Like the pick, just fail to see how in passing situations anyone would debate doubling him anytime soon

This. He got doubled for most snaps and even tripled at times and still got decent pressure and produced 5 sacks. His technique needs improving but he has ALL the tools to be a good rusher from the 1 tech.

I agree with you, all along I said his technique in pass rushing needed work and he's just not a natural pass rusher, just was pointing out an odd stat.

He makes effort sacks by pushing opponents into the Quarterback and making the play. Usually you don't see him use one or two moves to get at the QB. I think he could eventually be that, but for now we have exactly what we need in a run stuffer to occupy blockers....
