Rivera: Lotulelei a true hogmollie

A few highlights:

- both Rivera and Gettleman extremely happy with how the round played out

- described Star as "too good to pass up"; took less than a minute and a half to hand in the card

- feel Star is a 3 down lineman who does not need to be situationally subbed out

- think Star has a rare size-speed-strength combo and love his athleticism

- believe the pick will do a lot for Luke Kuechly and the other LBs

- DL Coach Eric Washington had a lot of contact with him, even today

- team believes it has a very solid DL rotation

- admitted to looking at 3 guys, but would not name the other two

- would have considered an offensive player at the spot

- Gettleman believes you can't make the Super Bowl without a great defensive front

- still planning to go BPA in the remaining rounds

One particularly interesting item: Gettleman gave pretty much zero thought to trading down. So much so that a few picks before they got on the clock, Gettleman told the guys manning the phones "If they call, no we're not interested'."

Yeah once pick 11 was turned in, we had at least one of Star, Eifert, or Rhodes being ours, so he said to not take any offers. Pretty badass.

Only negative thing they mentioned was that he doesn't have many pass rush moves... which isn't really that big of a problem imo if he can get double teamed which lets the other guys run wild. Though obviously it would be awesome if he could become a nose that got a few sacks each season.

I think my favorite item I've heard so far is Mike Mayock mentioning he won an award for being the best defensive lineman in the Pac 10 that was voted on by the offensive linemen of the conference.

No offense to journalists, but I'll take peer respect over sports writer respect any day.

Ugh, sorry Mr. Scot. I meant to give you good rep. :(

This the second year in a row I woke knowing who we would pick if they were available, and the second year I knew once the draft started that the player would slip right into our laps.

I also was sure we would go guard in the second last year around this time, same feeling I have about DB tomorrow.

Don't be shocked if we take a TE. If we were legitimately interested in Eifert in the 1st then we could go for a TE to pair with Olsen like we had with Shockey. Maybe go for a Patriots 2 TE offense sort of thing.

No. Get that tight end talk the fug outta here. It isn't happening and I can't wait for you guys to shut up. We are not drafting a tight end tomorrow.

The pick will be a defensive back. Period. No more tight end talk unless it has to do with bitches.
