4th Grade Quiz in SC

If that test isn't real, I'm sure there are many out there that are. This is common stuff in religious communities. In fact if I posted that to my Facebook feed I'd have more people offended and worried about me that I think it's wrong than not. Well it would be close.

Yeah, the whole thing about "i can't tell you the name of the school" gives it so much credibility.

And yeah, I'm also sure there are many tests that are real. (???)

If your (I'm assuming here based on context) religious friends worry that you think its real, shouldn't that be just a little tiny hint about who believes it?

i've been vacillating all day between posting it and not posting it. a pretty sizable chunk of my friends list is christians (some fundie, some not) and when i post stuff questioning The Order of Things there's a contingent that tends to get pretty up in arms and create a huge scene, so i try to balance things out so i'm only posting something controversial once a week or so. i just questioned literal translation of the bible to start a dialogue and got an earful, so i'm going to wait a bit to post this one

I mean, a quick Google search of the name of the quiz shows it came from a DVD and not a private Christian school in SC.

The answers and grade were written in by some tard on reddit.

i've been searching and i can't find any confirmation either way. it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility, this is literally the same material i was taught in my religious homeschool curriculum. and of course you have the creation science museum espousing this same stuff. a classic case of poe's law

Oh I know what you mean. You should do it. It's rarely one big thing that opens peoples eyes. It's normally a bunch of small things over time that chips away at ungrounded beliefs.

i will, i'm going to dig around and see if i can confirm it first though. in the meantime i try to season my posts with more lighthearted stuff. i don't want to become a demagogue and drive people away from thinking about these sorts of things by beating them to death with it

I dont understand how its ok for you guys to belittle things people believe, but if I say that someone believing in something like a big bang resulting in the creation of an entire universe is laughable then im unintelligient (yes i dont know how to spell unintelligient) In reality no matter what you say, the creation of earth and the universe for that matter cannot be proven by either side. So my suggestion would be, respect other people beliefs or keep your mouth shut.

Actually, the two things are entirely dissimilar. See, there are things that support the idea of the Big Bang. In fact, we know it almost certainly did happen. We don't know much about what happened prior to that, but that's OK. Scientists are trying to figure it out.

Here is where you went full retard. You said, "In reality no matter what you say, the creation of earth and the universe for that matter cannot be proven by either side. So my suggestion would be, respect other people beliefs or keep your mouth shut."

The issue here is that you claim that it cannot be proven by either side. False. Unknown =/= unknowable. I bet you would be the type a couple thousand years ago to jump all over people who say "hey, the earth is round" and say, "it could be flat! It can't be proven either way!". We know a lot about the universe and we're continuously learning more. To say we'll never have evidence that supports one idea or another is simply stupid.

Also, no, I will not respect ideas that are fuging stupid. "Some being that has always existed and therefore requires no creator itself created the entire universe and governs it so that it works the way the creator deems appropriate". Where's your evidence? Oh yeah, there isn't a fuging shred of it. I will not "keep my mouth shut" when it comes to other people's beliefs, and the fact that you pompously state we need to not criticize shitty ideas is the reason I am responding slightly upset. I respect you and your right to hold your opinion. However, if you posit that your idea is even AS valid as accepted science when it hasn't even passed the stage of hypothesis, then I am going to call you on it and explain how you're wrong. You do not have to respect other people's beliefs. You have to respect the person. Ideas do not get respect automatically. Ideas gain respect when they prove their validity.

The only reason i posted is because people think it is ok to openly question and belittle other peoples beliefs. If its the way you feel thats fine. I will not agree with you and you insulting me is not going to change that. If you can explain where a tiny particle and a whole hell of a lot of energy came from and randomly came together to create an entire universe with a planet the exact distance from a sun to support life then i am all ears, but for something to happen sooooooo randomly and yet soooo perfectly is not something i will ever comprehend. Like I said im not going to change your mind or you mine. But i will never say what you believe is stupid even though i disagree. Because that is disrespecting the person not the belief. again this isnt the forum for this discussion.
