Yep, its Kenny Vaccaro

Would be dissapointed with Vaccaro. Everyone touts his coverage ability but they had him playing in the slot the majority of the time at Texas. There is a reason that coaching staf didn't want him as the last line of defense. We have multiple good nickel backs to play the slot in Captain and DJ Moore.

I'm just not seeing where he is so good at tackling, either. Nearly every report I read is that he is over aggressive, over emotional on a football field which leads to taking himself out of plays by getting too far up field. From what I watched he takes some pretty poor angles more frequently than I would like and just doesn't seem to have those natural instincts that I covet at the safety position. Rather than wrap up, too many times he just seems to launch himself at ball carriers and that will get him into trouble at this level.

Meanwhile, Cyprien has similar measurables and impressed at the senior bowl playing amongst the best talent. He is touted for his natural leadership qualities, his coachability, his football IQ, and his instincts. That is what I want in a safety. I like Cyprien much more as a tackler in the open field. Everyone misses tackles but Cypriem has great technique and will just need to curb his aggressiveness just a bit in the NFL. He wraps up and delivers as big of blows as anyone I've seen at the college safety position and it should translate.

If we go safety at 14 I hope it's Cyprien for reasons stated above. Some will consider that a reach but I have a hunch if Star and Austin are off the board Gettleman will do everything he can to move back and still take Cyprien or another position completely.

I believe Vaccaro will be a great in the box player maybe even Troy polamalu light,

I do not believe he will ever be an elite cover man, I believe drafting star would

Give us an elite dline with no weaknesses and free up our lbs.

Rivera wants to use a lot of single-high safety looks with the SS in the box, so a player with Vaccaro's skill set is a good scheme fit.

Character concerns are something that might cause us to pass on Vaccaro.

What the perspective on that? Was he a legit hothead or douchebag . . or was it media driven for a story?

You really have to be a cerebral guy to play safety. I'd prefer someone even-keel if I could help it.

wildcard: Watch for Arizona especially if Johnson isn't there. NYJ too

The Cards need O-lineman in a bad way IMO, or perhaps they'll go Mingo, Ansah, or Jones to get an outside pass rusher.

Rex loves defensemen, so I am thinking they get Mingo or Jones. They need pass rushers more than the Cards do.

I am sure the anxiety will go up a notch if Star is still there after the Cards.

Vaccaro is terribly overrated. If you're a safety in college and are being drafted in the 1st half of the first round, you should be on tape making plays. Watch college highlights of Mark Baron and Laron Landry. This guy is fairly slow, and just isn't the ball hawk you'd expect with this high of a pick. On many of these "highlights" he looks worse then Godfrey, and he's playing against much lower level competition.
