TE Brandon Williams signs with Panthers?

Here is what this tells me:

Gettlemen and staff are doing their homework. For example, Colin Cole broke his leg and was cut. Nobody picked him up. Smitty says he looked good in workouts. I would say there is a chance he could be the starting NT.

This guy, if healthy, has the tools. He seems to be a good blocker for his smallish size and a good receiver. Competition for Rosario, who also has a chance to make the team in 13.

What are you talking about? Davis is easily one of the best TEs in the league right now.

He's come up big in some high profile games bit was 17th in yards for TEs las season. 10th in touchdown....that is not elite.

Look at the context of the season, he played on a team that switched QBs mid season and served as more of a blocker during that transition. You could look just at Steve Smith's #s alone from 2010 and say that he's not a star receiver.

I'm just saying that I was surprised how average his production is based on his reputation. I am not questioning his ability.

If you go back to his #s pre-Harbaugh, he's led the league in TDs before and has been near the top in receiving yards for TEs (despite playing with Alex Smith for most of the time). He's been leaned on more as a blocker by Harbaugh (something he's really good at), so he likely won't put up Jimmy Graham type numbers unless they decide to use him more in that role.

However, I will be curious to see what he does with a full season of working with Kaepernick. The two of them were starting to click in the playoffs, back to back 100 yard games in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl.

Put it this way: I love Greg Olsen, but if I could trade him straight up for Davis, I'd do it in a nano-second. The guy who called him a disappointment is off his rocker.
