Is the media ready to build Cam back up again?

Huh? None of us know this guy personally. We watch him on the tv, that's where it ends.

It's quite easy to judge a 24 year old kid still learning his way in the league. I'll listen to what his teammates and coaches say about him before I will fans who merely watch him play on Sundays.

I'm going off of what his coaches and teammates have said, and done.

Remember Kalil and Gross coming to him and telling him he needed to be a little more careful with his words? Heck, Newton even described himself as being "a bad teammate" at one point.

Truth be told, a lot of guys his age are like this. Many grow out of it, usually with a little help from their friends. I think Newton's lucky in that sense that he's here as opposed to an atmosphere like, say, Oakland.

All signs point to Newton growing in his maturity, especially over the last part of last season. I'm pretty encouraged on that front. He might never be the kind of guy that'd make a great politician, but that's not his job. The only people he really needs to win over are his teammates, and all indications are he's succeeding on that front.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if the entire world hated him as long as his teammates like him.

Yes I remember. I think he has progressed well from when he was a rookie and how he carried himself. He let his emotions get the best of him at times, but you cannot question his will or drive to win at all costs. That is the type of competitor I want leading this team.

I think the coaches didn't help him with his frustrations early on by allowing him to feel like the entire game rests solely on his shoulders. Hopefully him and Shula have a better understanding of each other than Chud did.

Wouldn't question any of those things. Competitiveness is great. You just can't let it cause issues with teammates.

I agree he's doing better though, and I think he's on the right team in the right locker room.

All the media stories around Cam are going to talk about how its his third year and he needed the first two to mature and learn to be a leader - yada yada yada.

It is all about how we do as a team from this point on. We all know that the QB is the position that gets the most blame for the loses as well as the glory for the wins. Sadly it is the way things are. As a player, he shouldn't worry about what the media says. He should focus on things he can control and change, then the rest will follow. The media works loves to see someone "fall from glory" on the other side of things, "the love to see someone redeem themselves". its all about just getting the story.

I wish this team the best. I have a feeling that we will turn some heads this coming season and the playoffs are in sight.

The media will always prey on dirty laundry. Fans will always love comeback stories or caricatures where someone embodies everything about what they are.

King's a vindictive bastard.

He dedicated a lot of effort to keeping Art Monk out of the Hall of Fame. Part of me wonders if the committee didn't ultimately induct Monk just so they didn't have to listen to King knocking him anymore.
