Me too, and I like Cat Crave as a website. I'm just not trusting this headline.

Here's the NFL.com article linked from their page:

San Francisco 49ers looking to trade up in NFL draft?

It doesn't even mention the Panthers, and certainly gives no indication that they're "talking"

To go from that to saying that they're already talking trade is a pretty colossal leap.

he 49ers are interested in trading up from No. 31 overall to the 13th or 14th spot.

I assume you know who is picking in the 14 spot.

And I already posted this on page 2.

I say we move back to 31, then start a vicious rumor about the player we really want. Like, he smeared poop all over his hotel room at the combine.

Ok, lets see how we do this.... Did you guys here Tyler Eifert has a mutant strain of flesh eating chlamydia that he got from his numerous sexual encounters with his philipino boyfriends? I better go tell Reddit......

14 for 31, 34 and their 4th helps us tons more than our current 5 picks.

If there was elite prospects there, that would send us to another level, I would agree it's not a good idea.

However,

Can someone convince me that a Star Liouoeuteotueoeut or a Travon Austin is better than a combo of a Jessie Willaims +DJ Swearinger+ OG or WR?

I know I often like to talk about trading back being a good idea, but usually you are just as good to sit pat and grab a guy. This particular draft however that is not the case. The distance between the guys available at 14 and the guys at 31 isn't so great we would miss out on a game changer and we a greater need for 3 "good" players than 1 "Very Good" player and 1 "Good"

So many fans are enamored with quantity but I rather take quality. It's like watching Canelo-Trout this past weekend. Yeah, Trout threw volumes of punches but Canelo rocked and hurt Trout with one perfectly timed and accurate punch several times in the fight.

If a player like Lane Johnson or Star Lotulelei fall, they instantly make a squad better.

Yes, if an elite prospect you need is there, you don't make the trade.

This isn't complicated.

Niners: We want to trade up for Travon Austin

Panthers: Well we like him, but would like some picks even more.

Niners: How about 31, 34, and our late 4th.

Panthers: Ok, but if Lane Johnson or Star Loueituette is there we have to take him.

Niners: Ok see ya Thursday.

If SF is interest and is willing to give up a good deal like their 34, we gotta take it sooner than later. Say, our top guys are Star, Vaccaro, and Tavon. Those are probably the Jets and SF top guys also. The only way Star would fall flat to us at 14, is if guys like Tavon and Vaccaro are taken ahead of him to like Buffalo, Jets or Tennessee. If we wait too long, SF will just trade up at 13 and take Star. We'd be sitting at 14 with all of our top guys gone. It'll be a lose-lose situation to sit at 14 and not take the trade back for a additional 2nd. We lose on Star and a 2nd round.

It's more likely they are targeting a specific guy and if he is there and our BPA w/Need isn't the trade happens.

Otherwise it doesn't.

Yes, if it were only that easy.

The Niners likely would have moved on.

What are you even talking about?

That is the most basic way for me to explain it.

Obviously more negotiations would have to happen in such a conversation.

Are you trying to disagree?
