Revis To Bucs, And Why We Should Rejoice

Revis returning to his old form is a big IF and MAYBE too.

nevertheless, he's MORE solid than our DBs. This is a great pick for the Bucks, it makes it tougher for us, and the reality is he's only ONE man! If he stack up with a SOLID #2WR we'd be straight against them. I can't stand the bucks but even with this addition I feel they still are less of a threat than Atlanta. So I will not under mind his talent but I will do so with his new team that has a QB heading out within the next 2 years.

If Star fell to 13 and Tampa still had the pick, they would've taken him. I'd rather the Jets get him.

If Tampa had Star, I'd be pissed. I rather Tampa settle for a rehabbing Revis than a monster defensive lineman.

Of course I would rather the Jets get him. My point was that the Bucs traded out if their pick, Star fell and he still got selected 1 pick above us.

Bucs won this trade handily...

People are quick to say "what if" to Revis coming back healthy yet won't play the "what if" game with the Jets. The Jets HAVE to nail both of their 1st rounders now...

No guaranteed money? If Revis doesn't play up to his expected level...the Bucs can cut Revis pretty easily. Also, they keep their 1st and 2nd round picks next year AND their cap room so they can rebuild easily next year if Freeman doesn't pan out either. Very good calculated risk.

And even in the long run, the Jets will suck as long as they have no QB and RB, stuck with Sanchez contractually, and have no cap room

The 'No Guarantee Money' clause in that contract won't be there next year, especially for a player of Revis' caliber and greedy motives. If he goes to the Pro-Bowl, mark my words, Darrelle is going to demand a new contract (this one with guaranteed money).

I don't see this happening.

1) I can count on 1 hand the teams that have enough cap space to give Revis a new and improved contract w/o fugging themselves in the butt severely.

2) We all now the he'll pay very little in taxes in FL. I'm pretty sure he's happy w/ his contract and is uber confident he'll be healthy.

I understand that Revis will help their secondary if he comes back 100%. But lets not say their secondary will be good just because he is there. After all, Tampa gave up more passing yards than anyone in the league. 69 plays of 20 yards or more. They averaged giving up right at 8 yards a completion.

They will be better but lets not go nuts assuming they will be great.

Our secondary was supposedly so bad yet we gave up 6.9 yards a completion and only 38 plays of 20 yards or more and 1200 less yards over the season.
