How does the Revis trade impact our draft?

The Jets are an unquestionable threat to take Austin. The Jets offense was in woeful need of playmakers last year, and there is none better than Tavon Austin. They drafted Stephen Hill (although we certainly know not everyone in the organization is a fan of him), but he's a primarily vertical threat, as is Santonio Holmes. Kerley showed nice development last year as a slot guy, but I don't think anyone would stand pat on him in place of Tavon Austin.

Simply put, the Jets offense needs explosive power, Tavon Austin brings exactly that. Of course they have glaring needs elsewhere so you certainly can't pencil Austin in, but you in no way should discount him either.

He's not what their offense and Rex Ryan is built for. They have a mediocre QB in Sanchez who needs to rely on a good running game with possessing receivers. Unless Sparano wanna run some wildcat, options offense with The Golden Calf of Bristol and Austin, Austin isn't going there bc too bad Sparano is in Oakland. Tavon needs QBs who can give the ball out fast to him or in a offense like ours with a Cam Newton, not Sanchez.

Um, scheme wise the Jets offense like to utilize slot WRs. They also like to have shifting and movement. He'll fit right in.

Plus Sanchez sucks at deep balls. He was at his best with short to intermediate throws, with the occasional deep ball mainly off play action. They would feed Austin a lot. Didn't even mention wild cat plays.

So yeah, he's a good fit.

Yea, I was thinking that with a noodle arm QB like Sanchez, a WR like Austin is exactly what they need. Someone Sanchez can just dump off to short and then let Austin rack up the YAC, making Sanchez look better than he is.

Patterson might also be a good fit for them. Any of these guys who are questionable leading up to and including the catch but electric after it.

In addition, the writing is on the wall that the only reason Sanchez is still a Jet is because of that contract. Just look at their attempts to offload him in Tampa Bay. Even if Austin didn't fit Sanchez's playing style, the Jets simply aren't building Sanchez any more. He'll get one last chance to prove himself by default this year (barring Geno sliding or the Jets trading up), but after that he's gone, and they'll want to give their new QB tools to work with.
