Is D.J Fluker a possibility at 14?

I disagree. Guard is a need, not Tackle. And Warmack would make instant impact on this line. Fluker and most of these tackles in this draft will struggle like most rookie OTs in the past. Warmack is ranked as the no.1 prospect in this draft on a lot of board.

he's still a guard and one if several needs. i don't really care if he's the best player in the draft (which i doubt, but whatever)....theres a reason why he won't be taken first overall. theres a reason he won't be drafted in the top five or even top ten and there's a reason why we won't draft him....the value if an elite guard just doesn't warrant an early selection. teams will draft a guard that early if they have most every position taken care of. it just plain doesn't carry with it the value that other positions carry, elite or not.

you don't agree with me? that's fine, but I'll take solace in knowing that most of the GMs in the league view it pretty much the same way.

a RT like fluker would upgrade RT and bumping bell inside would likely upgrade RT. the down side is that it would probably take a couple years to feel the benefit which is why I'd rather look to draft something other than OL early. i don't want to start another rookie on the line. I'd rather address RG in FA.

Warmack is a Top15 pick and Fluker is a Top25 pick. The reason why Warmack might not be pick high is bc he's playing GUARD and teams don't view that position highly. But talent wise he's so much more better than Fluker.

And this is the first time you dissapointed me. Ive been high on many of your posts till now. I thought you were smarter than believing that we should move Bell inside to RG. It's not going to happen and it's def a bad move. Bell is bad inside.

that's not my ideal situation. I'd like that whole right side upgraded. truthfully I'd like to find gross's replacement on the left and move gross back to the right side or just upgrade both OT spots and RG.

warmack might be a better guard than fluker is a tackle, but that won't stop fluker from getting drafted earlier, which is entirely possible from what I've been hearing. teams have been really impressed with fluker during visits and that has him skyrocketing up draft boards and the need for OTs and the run on the best ones early will move fluker higher...and that's just the way it should be because of the value difference in the two positions.

and this is the first time you've been disappointed in my posting? i find that hard to believe. in my 25k posts I'm sure I've given plenty of reasons to be disappointed. looking back i know i have.

I can't see why Tennessee should find a reason to pass up Warmack. Even though Fluker's stock is rising, I'll bet that Warmack goes before Fluker. I'd be stunned if it's the other way around.

Ive only been really reading your posts like 1.5 years so yea I gotta say that's the dumbest thing ever to come out of you during that time span. Lol

now i know you haven't been paying attention if you think that's the dumbest thing ive said in here. lol

tennessee has too many other needs to spend that early one on a guard. btw, I'm not saying fluker will be taken earlier, it just wouldn't surprise me at all and i think it's quite likely. loom at many mocks and it's funny how close they have those two drafted together. i think that some team could look at the run on OTs early and jump on fluker. lacanfora even suggested that fluker could be taken before miami picks at 11.

Yea and I agree that Fluker will end up in the 1st. And have seen that Fluker to Miami mock but what if KC bites on that Albert trade and send Albert to Miami? Fluker is not happening there.

What I'm saying is that Warmack is a better player. If I were to pick, I'd take Warmack without hesitating at 14.

that's fine, and there's no way i would pick him at 14 unless the secondary was in really good shape, we had a couple big play guys in the WR corps, we had OT set for the long term on both sides, UT and NT were set for years, etc. theres just too many areas that need good players who should be a priority and drafted earlier ahead of OG.

i just don't think the value is there for any OG in the first. not enough separation between average and elite guards for my liking. your fine with guys who essentially just don't suck, get pushed around much, can make a little room for ball carriers, buy a little time for the QB, and not draw too many penalties. it's just not important to me to have an all-pro guard. I'd rather spend those resources elsewhere and try to find big guys in FA or mid-late rounds in the draft to handle OG.

Byron Bell is a much more effective RG than RT, Rayzor is correct.

With that said, I do not want Fluker at #14.

Hell no. Bell is not better at RG or else he's be playing RG. We'd be talking OT in Fluker at 14 all this offseason leading to the Draft Thursday night if Bell had shown that hes capable of playing RG. What are you watching?

Much like the presence of Dominic Hixon and Tedd Ginn shouldn't eliminate WR from being a possible 1st or 2cd round pick, the presence of Byron Bell shouldn't eliminate OT from being a possible 1st or 2cd round pick.

I like Bell. He works his ass off and he's a good guy. I'd like him a lot more if he was a back up.

We have a lot of needs and our picks should be based on the BPA at a position of need. We have enough needs that we shouldn't have to reach while following this philosophy.

With that said, no thanks to Fluker at #14. IMO, he's was the 3rd best OL on Alabama's roster last season. I don't want some college team's #3 OL at #14 overall. Though, I'll admit, I'd probably trade Alabama's OL for our straight up. Kalil would be the only one I'd miss. Gross is old, Silatolu is talented but raw, Hangartner sucks, and Bell is just a guy.

Have you seen how slow Fluker's feet are? Dude is going to get chewed up and spat out early in his career by speed rushers off the edge.

I agree, but Fluker's value is in his versatility. He can be an all pro guard as well as a decent right tackle. It makes filling holes in FA easier.
