An indepth look at the options for Carolina at 14th overall in the first round. I'll go over

the current updated draft rankings in regards to what would bring value and improve the Panther's

roster. I'm just doing the Panther's first two picks and will only be using first or second round

players.

Moving the Mock to a second post to make it easier to read for the TLDR guys.

Mock Draft (First two rounds)

Panther's 1st round (14th overall selection) -

Targets - "Tavon Austin, Cordarrelle Patterson, Kenny Vaccaro, Barkevious Mingo, Datone Jones"

If they fall to us guys - "Ziggy Ansah, Lane Johnson, Sharrif Floyd"

Three most likely Targets - Vaccaro, Austin, Patterson

Expected 1st round pick - Kenny Vaccaro.

Panther's 2nd round(44th overall)

Targets - Quinton Patton, Justin Hunter, DeAndre Hopkins, Robert Woods, Larry Warford,

Terron Armstead, Kwan Short, Gavin Escobar.

If they fall to us guys -Sylvester Williams, DJ Fluker, Larry Warford

Top three likely Targets - Patton, Hopkins, Hunter

Expected Pick - Quinton Patton

I went with Vaccaro in the first because of all the 2nd round WR's prospect's that the team has looked at and went with who I expected to still be there and who would probably be the BPA. You could easily flip this around and the Panther's take either Austin or Patterson in the first then Elam in the second if he falls to them at 44. I just don't think that Austin will be there at 14 still and that's why I went with Vaccaro.

Id bet anything we are going DL in the 2nd if we dont get one in the 1st.

Doubtful unless one of the late first round guys falls to 44. They didn't really visit with anyone DL around that spot except for Short and it's not expected that he'll be there at 44.

It's more likely they take OL in the second round then DL, I think the team is really high on how much Kearse improved last season. So unless Jones or Williams is sitting there at 44 don't expect a DE or DT.

More along the lines of either a Safety, WR or OL depending on how the draft plays out in the first round.

They were so high on Kearse they cut him early in the season.

If they do not take a DT with the first 2 picks. 2011 all over again. I don't think Ron wants to make the same dumbass mistake.

I said on how much he improved late in the season, they cut him because he wasn't likely to see playing time and they could still stash him on the practice squad.

As for the draft, It's not up to Ron. This is Gettleman's show and his picks.

If it was, I'd be more inclined to have the team go defense the first two rounds and WR in the fourth.

Everything the team has done so far indicates that they won't be taking a DT till the fourth round. If they can get Hughes though then it would be worth it. He's a second round guy with some character concerns that's dropped his stock.

Picking Hughes in the 4th would be the same as taking a DT in the first two rounds skill and talent wise.

I'm sorry I do not want to depend on a 4th round DT, Fua , or Kearse to be starters next year. I think Gettlemen coming from that Giants program understands the value of big guys up front to keep your LB's clean.
