So if we are looking for starters. That limits the field somewhat. Any DB spot is open, as well as RG and DT. Throw in WR and that is about it. So that gives us our pool. Any player in that pool is a potential Panther. If we follow the Big Guys and TD makers motto. That trims our pool to WR, RG, and DT. If we are to believe Rivera and Co. are comfortable at DT, that leaves WR and RG. Nobody wants to spend a 1st on a RG, so that leaves WR as winner of our pool. .......... Now the question remains. What WR do we take?

Then Ron and company are just as dumb now as they were in 2011. Which will get them out of here by the midseason. Hopefully we get a coach that can look at players like Watts, Justin Smith, Naga, and Wilfork and see that being comfortable with players like Fua, Edwards, Krease, and Chandler is a dumb idea.

I would be SHOCKED if Gettleman's first pick was Tavon Austin. When he was with the Giant's they chose almost a clone in Sinorice Moss at #41 in 2006. Moss was the same height but 10 pounds heavier, each ran 4.34 40's, moss had a 42 to 32 in. vertical advantage and a slightly better broad jump. Moss's career... 39 catches for 421 yards and 3 TDs. Ex-Giant Armonti Toomer talked about this on Sirius and called him the quickest player he'd ever seen, but couldn't get off the line in press coverage and got lost over the middle in the slot. He went on to say that when Manning came in, many of his throws were high(remind you of anyone)so they began drafting taller receivers. When Gettleman analyzes Tavon, I can think of one thought which should come to his mind. Fool me once shame on you...........

How many times do you have to act like a ex girlfriend who can't get over mentioning my name over and over and over again.

here's the portion of our show where kkl reveals his inner insecurities by retaliating with weird insults and then doubles back when confronted about said insecurities

Here is the portion of this show where Growl derails this thread. Where we were having a cordial back and fourth about football and the panthers. But no Growl want to talk about me.

IMO, any DT we take in the first will be an instant upgrade. And will probably end up starting. I would not mind that. Hellz, any kid we get in the first will probably start. There are only so many ways you can ask. Who we gonna take?

I just hope we stop with this bullshit system of devaluing the DT position.

I get that everyone wants a DT, but you can't just pick anyone who plays DT and be set. We have a very specific NEED of a Nose Tackle. All of the Defensive Tackles in consideration with the 14th pick are Under Tackles save Sly (but that is still a bit too high for him imo). In the second round, you're looking at guys like Hankins, and Jenkins, but again I think you're overvaluing those two players if you draft them at 44. I would be extremely happy if we could get starters at two of SS,WR and CB in the first two rounds, then follow that up with Brandon Williams in the fourth. He's a player who could step in from game one and be an anchor in the run game, which is exactly what we need. I don't really see the problem in waiting till the fourth if you're getting the player who fits best where he should be drafted. In a perfect world Star would drop or we would have lost more games and be in position to draft him, but that didn't, and isn't happening....

Regarding the DTs in this draft, it's a really deep class, but only 2 or 3 might be able to start on day one without being a huge liability. If Gettleman's thinking is that he won't be able to grab a day one starter early than he might not grab one until the fourth, and take advantage of the weak skill position class and take the BPA in the 1st and 2nd.

The coaching staff is pretty high on Kearse and Chandler, and Fua progressed last year although he likely never be more than a space-eater. I imagine they will likely kick Hardy inside more often and try to get Frank Alexander on the field more often as well.

If a day one starter DT isn't available at 14 then by definition he's not going to the BPA. I trust Gettleman.

I agree with this to an extent. I think Brandon Williams is a guy you can get in the fourth that you can have fufill the role of a space eater from day one. I will agree that in the first two rounds, the value isn't really there for the need we have at Nose Tackle.....
