Adams was a 4th round pick with questionable speed and hands. Austin is a 1st round talent with size issues. We only have 2 Home Run threats on the team. Adding Austin would make it 3. Why would we not want that?

They are both Slot WR which is the same importance as a #2 TE. Why would we put more importance on that position?

Does a big TE also create matchup problems on punt returns and trick plays?

If you are gonna draft Austin top 15 he is not gonna be playing special teams very long especially if he ends up being a top receiver like he will be drafted to be. This is not college anymore. Cant risk it for down the road. And we took Smitty off so why would we not do it with Austin?

Neither could Tiki Barber but he got over it. We are talking about a rookie here not a 10 years vet. He can fix this problem.

Go back and see where I said I couldn't be fixed.... You wont find it. A fumbling problem can be fixed. Doesn't change the fact that he was disappointing THIS season. Will he be in the future? No one knows.

Well isn't this a dumb little statement. The importance of both positions is ENTIRELY scheme specific. In 2011 we ran a lot of two TE sets, Shockey was very important for us to have as it allowed for us to max protect, and help Cam along with two big TE targets. Last year we moved away from that and ran almost exclusively out of one TE formations. I believe this trend will likely continue as we seek to spread the field with explosive playmakers that can take advantage of Cam's natural arm talent. I've seen little to give me a reason to think that we are looking to acquire a second pass catching TE or that we plan on running two TE sets as a primary formation.

You're talking out of your rectum.

My point exactly. Let's find out what we have before we replace him with a top 15 pick.

Which scheme worked better for this team and since Chud isn't here anymore and Shula might not be either and even if he is who knows what scheme we will use??? It seem like you're the one speaking out of his ASS.

And Naka couldn't play safety still didn't stop him from getting a jersey and playing time every week.

Um yeah it did. Wasn't long after the ATL game he was relegated to early downs. Martin was brought in on passing downs. Then after Sherrod went down, Godfrey moved over and the rook stared at SS. It may not have been soon enough, but it did happen.

So your argument is one of imaginary speculation, while mine is based on fact. Continue living in fantasy land, it doesn't change the fact that we haven't shown any interest in acquiring a second pass catching TE, so I see no reason to believe that our offensive philosophy is going to revert to a two TE set scheme.

edit: also, which scheme worked better? Well technically we had more wins with one TE sets, and statistically Cam was about the same. Like I said, he plays more into Cam's natural ability to have dynamic players that can spread the field and attack downfield - which is why a dynamic and FAST slot receiver would do wonders for him and our offense.

We will know what Gettleman thinks of Adams on the PDQ.

Our opinion won't matter.

It is extremely disappointing that he did have opportunities and didn't take them. Make of that what can be made. The NFL does not offer up many chances on a weekly basis.

What is disappointing is there is a pecking order and some player can fug up more then others but get more opportunities.

The fact is Adams isn't a Gettlmen pick. And if Gman thinks Tavon is BPA or is a major upgrade, then he couldnt careless about Joe. And why should he? He has no ties to the kid.
