Cyprien has a first round grade and only continues to climb up the draft boards.

Allen will go in the first (between 15-25).

Forgot to mention about Allen.

His workout really hurt his draft stock, added to the injury issues and he's more then likely passed over by Hunter, Woods and possibly Patton.

You draft on potential, Patterson's is through the roof according to most of the analysis I've seen.

Hell no, that gets you burned. If I had the choice between a LaFell-skilled player who understood how to read defensive coverages and had excellent roue running skills, I would take that 100 times out of 100 over a Cordarelle Patterson.

He still lined up in the 2nd WR spot, they just ran more trick plays. He still got the same shots through the air on more traditional routes. His route running was vastly better the second half of the season as well. There's a reason he has a vastly higher rating then Hunter when they are both athletic....

His route running wasn't better, they cut his route tree down to go and slant. And anytime your response is "he's rated higher" you should remember that draft pundits have the world's worst track record.

You also draft 1st round picks on what thay can do for you day 1. And Gettlemen did say he was looking to get 2 day 1 starters.

Which kind of contradicts the Austin talk with Ginn being on the team. Austin wouldn't start, he'd be the slot WR / used in gimmick plays and that's about it. Unless they cut Ginn Jr. Austin wouldn't be doing returns.

With that said Austin and Patterson are definite options at 14. Not saying the team takes either one of them, but along with Vaccaro they are the most likely to be picked.

Fluker isn't an option at 14, neither is Hunter, Hopkins, Allen or Cyperian. They all have late first to second round grades. lol

I'll give you Williams though, he's definitely an option, but he's more of a fall back's fall back plan guy at 14.

Wrong again Carpanfan.

My point exactly.

I broke down his games and I can tell you that he definitely ran more then Go's and Slants. He ran about 7 of the routes on the tree. They didn't have him run a lot of digs or flat's during the season. Even if you look at just late season games.

One of his best deep catches of the year over the middle was late in the season and was a post route.

I did the research on this one for my draft post. I went through 6-7 sites and compiled the draft rankings from ESPN, NFL.com, CBSsports and a bunch of others for it. The only two guys as of today that had definite mid -early first round grades was Patterson and Austin.

Allen has actually plummeted since his workout by about 10 draft spots. Hunter, Woods, Hopkins have all moved their draft stock up but they were all 2nd round - 3rd round guys to begin with. They've moved up to late first - early second round.

Your grades mean squat. Cyprien is being heavily considered by The Ravens, 49ers, Patriots, Bengals, Cowboys and us [Panthers]. Don't kid yourself. His 4.6 was as damaging as Vaccaro's 4.6.

Once again, they aren't my grades silly. They are scout ratings and draft boards, major site draft boards and so forth.

Cyprien wasn't hurt by his 40 time either. It was his cone times and lack of agility in test that hurt his stock. His draft value fits in with the Patriots, Ravens or 49ers drafting him in the Late first, just like I've said he would be. Elam is definitely rated higher then Cyprien because of that cone time test.

Pretty sure I read that Cyprien was nursing a hamstring injury when he did his physical testing. Which is also why he didn't participate in some aspects of the combine.

What do you think of Vacarro?

I think he's benefiting from the fact that team's love his coverage skills in the seam and therefore overlook his less than stellar play elsewhere on the field. If he was being graded purely on anything but coverage ability he'd probably be the third or fourth guy at his position, based only on his film. However, the flip side is that Texas really used him in an unusual manner, so he might just need coaching up and experience.

Here's something else that I don't think has trickled out to the draftniks yet, but teams are starting to shy away from heavy-hitting safeties, as they feel the league is going to continue penalizing players until the days of attempting to separate receivers from the ball is over. In such a brave new world coverage skills will be all-important. If we took him I wouldn't be upset, God knows we need some help back there.
