Honestly, I have to put in effort not to get at least a 40 on the Wonderlic (basically I have to fug up purposefully), but, that being said, I don't think that the Wonderlic---or any test---is necessarily a barrier to being able to learn and do a job. It may, or may not, take someone a little longer than someone else to learn something that may come easy to others, but they can still ultimately learn a skill or take in information learn given the proper time and/or attention in many cases.

and i don't think a test likened to the SAT has any bearing on a football player being able to do his job. i don't think it has much to do with intelligence. might he be dumb as a brick? maybe, but that test isn't something that should be taken too seriously in gauging that. it is not a good indicator of who can pick up a playbook and understand it. it doesn't show an ability to learn and comprehend what he needs to do as a player.

Scoring a 10 on the Wonderlic is generally an indication that the test-taker is literate. Tavon Austin scored below that. The average football player scores a 20. Tavon got less than half of that. These comparisons aren't irrelevant. It's indicative of his work ethic, how he prepared himself for the combine, and how he's going to be able to learn at the next level. I wouldn't care if someone scores below average, and I don't think that the Wonderlic matters terribly much, but Tavon's score is worth looking into.
