Teams moving up in the draft .How will it affect us?

depends who moves up and why. Minny, might move up to target Austin, and look to move ahead of us. San Fran and atlanta could move up to for a DB, but neither might jump ahead of us. The interesting thing will be if Star or someone else interesting starts falling and unknown team might jump into the mix and trade with the Panthers or look to get ahead of us. I wouldn't mind, trading back with Minny and getting their second rounder and perhaps a 5th. Although if Star is on the board I wouldn't do it.

If I'm the Niners, I wouldn't use that many picks on simply drafting filler. They already have a squad, and if they package a few picks to move way up in the first and swoop up a killer starter, its a wrap. I think they're the wild card in this.

So many variables its too hard to predict now. Thankfully the Gman got us into a comfortable position to draft BPA. Had he not, we'd all be freaking out about the potential draft shuffling. Someone moves ahead, takes a WR, so be it. We'll get a DT or whatever. And vice versa.

I know we only have 5 picks. But I am with Gettlemen on this one. I would rather get the 14th best player than trade back and get two lower rated players. I want the one who can make a difference right away. Not two guys that may or may not need some seasoning. I do realize we very well could get two starters out of moving down. But we could lose out on a very good player doing so. Unless we get a deal we can't turn down. I am all in favor of staying put in the first.

it won't be an easy sell if someone wants our 14. gettleman set the stage for that. had he said we are looking to trade back, we wouldn't get much. concern about getting 3 dimes for our dollar makes the price go up.

if we don't make the trade, we still get a couple good starters and on of the best personnel guys in the league choosing them and the rest of the draft picks and hidden gems out of the udfa market.

I wonder If that is just speak though, there is a lot of misdirection when listening to teams about the draft but I think it is fairly unanimous that there is not a lot of discrepancy between the talent in the first round or whole draft for that matter. So is giving up the 14th pick to move back to 25 or so really the difference between a dollar and a dime, I don't think so I think it's more like a dollar and $.85. Maybe he was just trying to hedge a little because it is such common knowledge that teams want to trade back, especially someone like us only has five picks.

Yeah, I don't see that happening... especially for Richardson. I bet we stay put. The only trade I could see us doing, is one that gets us back into the 3rd for a player who slipped.

I'll talk about these possibilities separately.

Tampa trading with Jets: I think they'll grab a pass rusher and either Vaccaro or one of the guards. From what we're hearing, Vaccaro is our 2nd favourite target, behind Austin -- the latter should be gone by the time the Jets get to pick (imo anyway). I'm prepared for the Panthers to draft DJ Fluker if Vaccaro gets taken at 13.

KC trading with Miami: Not gonna happen imo. Albert wants BIG money, which the Phins aren't prepared to give him (the same type of money they didn't want to give Long). Chief fans think that he'll stay in KC for another year, before hitting the market in pursuit of a monster contract.

49ers trading up to 13: This is good for us. They could be targeting either Richardson or Vaccaro, the latter could be taken by the Jets anyway. I think it's more likely for them to trade up for a D-lineman, just because it's a deep safety draft and a bigger need for them.

49ers trading into the top 10: I actually think this is more likely. Cleveland and Zona would both love to snag a QB of the future late in the 1st. If they trade with San Fran, they can get a loooooot of picks, which is great when you have all these holes. I predict that they'll go up and grab Star. Looking at my mock draft now, this move wouldn't really affect us too much. Dion Jordan may go a little earlier now, which would mean the Jets grabbing Mingo instead. Shouldn't really affect us either way. If the Jets don't like Mingo, they'll grab Vaccaro and a guard, meaning again that we'll have to take Fluker, or whoever you have as the next guy on your board.

Moral of the story: There's a much bigger chance that Vaccaro will be gone by the time the Panthers get a pick. If Austin and Vaccaro were your favourite targets, it's time to think about contingency plans.

Miami has put itself in a position either to trade up or take the KC deal.Why invest all that money and not have a necessary ingredient for success.

I think both the Rams and 49ers are in position to trade up.

Teams like the rams, need their picks, as they have a ways to give to improve their team.

Just cause teams have picks, doesn't mean they'll be looking to trade up.

Good teams, like the 49ers, i wouldn't put it past them, if they are targeting a specific player.

I've heard that the Jets may trade down from 13, and Minnesota is a natural option, which would be a threat for us. If Minnesota is trading up, they're either taking a receiver(Patterson/Austin), or a DT(likely a falling Star), obvious needs for us. The Falcons could also trade up for a DB, again another need for us.

But say you guy is gone, does it not make sense to pick up a 2nd or 3rd to improve your team.Unless Austin or Star is there I think we can get comparable talent in the 2nd.

There in lies the problem. I have heard that the top tier talent is 1-15 or so. Which would give us one of those top tier talents. Now if, as you say, all those guys are gone. Then you would have to have an idea of where you want to go. Are two medium tier guys worth the drop? Do you feel you absolutely must have a top tier guy, or can you scrap by with two lower rated players?............Me personally, I would rather have a top tier talent that can make a difference. Rather than two lower rated players who can help. A top tier player can be an All Pro, whereas, two lower rated players could be solid starters. That is what makes this time of year so enjoyable. All the possibilities.

There's a chance that Vaccaro, Austin and Fluker are all gone by the time the 14 spot comes around, A very good chance of it actually.

Austin is a good possibility to go to the Jets, He's also high on SD's list, He's also a possibility at 6 with the Browns.

Fluker has a high probability of being taken by SD, Miami. One of those two teams will definitely take him, just depends on how the draft in front of them unfolds.

Vaccaro is a possibility at 13 with the Jets or with another team that trades up to that spot for him.
