The original proposal passed like 10-2 or something. I'm sure it will be close to that unless some have had a change of heart.

Can that tether start when JR passes? I could see him living till the end of it and then we are in the same spot as we are now

Was thinking the same thing, would be nice if the tether didn't start until the day he dies.

The tether starts now as of the first year's payment. It runs from 2013-2019, 2019 being when the City will start talking to the Panther's about the massive new stadium deal that's going to be made.

Here's the good news, we can wait for the climate in Raleigh to change and then go back for the .5% prepared food and beverage tax increase so we can sweeten the pot and extend the tether.

The smaller improvements may enable JR or the new owner to make a much more realistic plea for a brand new stadium in 2019. Hard to imagine not needing a new stadium by then. IMO getting the full 300 mill now would put a kibosh on the future request.

They are going to have to build a new stadium eventually. BOA won't be an NFL version of Fenway.
