Do you put a seatbelt on when riding in a cab?

I'm up here cabbing it around Chicago this week and my cab almost got t-boned. Then I started thinking back, and I can't recall ever wearing a seat belt in a cab. I've been in thousands of cabs and even a few rikshaw's (here's to you San Diego) and I have never clicked a seat belt. Not even if I ride in the front. Yet I am a habitual seatbelt guy in my own vehicle.

Things that make you go hmmm.

for some reason it just never seemed to be the right thing to do. Isn't that wierd?

In 2002 I went to France with my then father in law and we got a cab from the train station to the hotel. At a light, 2 guys on a scooter pulled up next to us and the guy on the back reached into the car and started what appeared to be punching the cab driver in the head. The light turned and the driver went after these guys, so we were in Paris for 15 minutes and involved in a crazy car/scooter chase down alleys and big streets, the driver screaming in French....they lost us and we finally figured out that the guy on the back of the scooter was trying to steal the drivers sunglasses. That was the one time I buckled my seat belt in a cab, as we were being thrown around the back of this little car.
