Telling someone not to bash walterfootball is like telling someone not make fun of the class clown who thinks everyone is laughing WITH him

it can't be done

I know, but I did not want to spend a day looking for a list. I am not sure how they rank interest. Razor's list is a good one.

I really don't think we are going WR at 14. We waited to sign Hixon until after we met with most of the top end ones; that tells me he wasn't completely sold on any of them enough to pencil them in at #3 (which is what you expect from the #14 pick...and which he implied in his presser today). I also get the impression that he thinks we can get a high quality DT at #44.

At 14 I am starting to get the feeling that we will take Vaccaro if he is still there. If he's gone, we'll probably take their 3rd rated DT (since the first 2 are almost certain to be gone) or perhaps reach a bit and take Fluker.

So, with all this talk about drafting a WR in the 1st round... it makes me wonder a couple things.

1 - Are we anticipating Smitty's retirement within 1-2 years? Usually a 1st round WR is supposed to be "the guy" down the road.

2 - Did we just sign Ted Ginn to return kick-offs and punts? Hard to see where he fits with Smitty, LaFell, Hixon, Gettis, 1st Round WR.

3 - Does this maybe mean (along with the emergence of LaFell) that Gettis may be on the chopping block?

Things that make you go "hmmmmm?"

In reality, G-Man's philosophy isn't that contrasting from Hurney's. Gettleman is just a stronger in-house and talent evaluator.

well, i don't agree that their philosophies on not letting talent go and overpaying to keep it is the same. hurney was a pitbull in not letting his players go and was willing to go overboard to keep them. i don't think that's gettleman at all.

i think he's also looking at a much broader range of possibilities than hurney did for the first round. very different focus.

It's on the front page now.

Just watched it. For some reason it wasnt playing earlier.

Are we the luckiest franchise in the world? Have to be. Watching him talk about our franchise is mesmerizing. This smile will not go away anytime soon.

p.s. lol at joe interupting Gettleman and asking questions that get deflected or backhanded, in a polite way. Did that happen or did it just seem that way?

That's obvious, of course. I am referring more towards how they build their squads. Gettleman seems to be a big believer in building through the draft too but he's also not afraid to use free agency.

i didn't see hurney using free agency as well.

gettleman tried to have holes filled prior to the draft. that wasn't hurney's modus operandi. he'd do it well afterwards.
