Gettlemania holding a pre draft presser tomorrow

My gut tells me we're targeting a WR @ 14, seems like a very shallow draft at that position and we certainly have a need.

I would love to see what our WR board looks like, Hopkins seems to be the most well developed and complete WR, Patterson is the risky developmental prospect with the high ceiling and the biggest bust potential and Austin is the explosive slot guy who can contribute in other other less conventional ways.

Out of that group, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we chose Hopkins.

I disagree completely, WR is one of the deeper positions in the draft. Maybe not as deep at DT and CB, but there are a ton of quality players at the position....

agreed. i like this class.

to catman, i think that we'll be seeing a WR with the 2nd pick. the amount of WRs they've worked out/visited with tells me that they've got a pretty good pool of prospects that they would be able to choose from, even if they waited till the second round.

I could see that as well, and maybe I'm off the mark on the depth of the WR class - but my impression was that the talent level dropped off pretty sharply after the top 3 (Hopkins, Patterson, Austin in no particular order).

Perhaps but I don't see Patton going that early.

I could definitely see it, he's solid at everything. I think Patterson/Austin/Allen/Hopkins/Woods go in the first with a chance that someone takes a chance on Hunter's freak physical gifts. After that I think the next guy off the board is Patton....

the way i've been looking at it is there are really no megatrons in this class, but there's plenty of starters in this class. the majority of thos WRs listed will find themselves as one of the top 3 WRs on their teams (and i pretty much consider the WR3 a starting gig as the league turns more into a spread offense driven league. the amount of PT and targets separating the #2 and #3 are very small).

just like the QBs from recent years, the WRs are coming into the league more ready for the pro-game than they have been in years mainly due to the pro game looking so much like the college game anymore.

we don't have very many getting a lot of hype, but it's really kind of a flooded market with good WRs this year. hard to really distinguish between them.

He said the visits were distributed among the prospects they are looking at in each round.
