Some of you guys take Charlotte for granted

To me the worst part of Charlotte is work traffic and more so the lack of optional transportation. I know there is a bus line, but most people live outside of Charlotte, and the park and ride could be OK if you are going uptown but not really helpful for other places you work. Granted it's not as bad as other cities, but I remember reading that Charlotte is the #1 gas guzzling city in America, because of nonexistent other options. Maybe one day when 74 work is done, 485 finished (and 485 at 85) it'll be better, but who knows. Our city grew up too fast, therefore we're lagging behind on other things, but all in due time.

Lynx is great, we just need more of it, lots more. I'm looking forward to the extension to the University.

For real. I'm in Chicago this week and I love being able to take the train from the airport (there's an idea Charlotte!) into the city. Someday, 50 years from now, the lightrail might offer a few more options than 485 to uptown.

I am from a small town in TN. I live in a small town in NC. I see little difference. (Really no difference) When I moved to NC, the worst thing was that Jesse Helms was a senator from NC. I would never compare Knoxville to Charlotte...of course Charlotte has more....except for a major university. UT has been the center of Knoxville for a long time.

Look at the stats. Charlotte is much larger than Knoxville. Not sure why anyone wants to compare the two.

True that. Traffic is fugging retarded in Charlotte. It would be nice to actually be able to use the I-85 instead of highway 29 for once.

Traffic in Charlotte is nothing compared to LA, Chicago, Dallas, Miami/Ft Lauderdale, ATL, NYC, Phily, DC/B-more, or Houston. Sorry, we have traffic in like 4 areas. The places listed above have traffic on every fuggin road in town.

Aren't there plans set in stone to expand it?

Up to university I believe. Which is just on Tryon. The problem with this is, while it's a start, most of the traffic I see/encounter are people in surrounding counties coming into Charlotte. I live in Indian Trail, and I think a ton of us commute to the city. I think a large number of people would use a train/Lynx if possible and reduce gas and the use of roads. I hate driving. I would ride a train even if it meant taking 15-20 minutes longer than the car ride, because at least I could listen to music, get on tablet, or even just stare out the window instead of being angry at traffic and having cramps in my foot from stop and go lol.

Yes the lack of traffic congestion in Charlotte is one of the things I'll definitely count as a positive. I can't think of another city this size that's so easy on traffic.

As far as the LYNX, its designed to get those New Yorkers in Fort Mill uptown to spend money. I would say its useless to 90% of people who *live in* Charlotte.
