Charlotte city leaders are scheduled to meet with Panther officals Thursday (April 18th) to work out a deal using current monies for the stadium upgrades. James Mitchell (councilman) is expected to be the point man for the city. Let's hope this gets worked out quickly guys.

Here is some new insight

Looks like a short tether will by us time to work out a longer deal down the road.

Thanks for the link....I think a short term deal will happen...around 7 years or so. And hopefully common sense wil prevail and in a couple of years the state will realize that 40 million a year, plus national recognition is nothing to sneeze at and a long term deal will get done. I can't belive that even tight fisted political hacks would be so STUPID as to lose this regions NFL franchise.

It's pretty sad that the Charlotte needs a tether to keep a team around.

This is in the event of JR's passing, to ensure the City, JR(beyond the grave), and the fans that the Panthers will be here for the long haul.

Panthers proposing a 10 yr tether

@CBJspanberg: Panthers propose 10-yr tether for $112.5M stadium improvements. $75M from city; 6-yr 'hard' tether.
