The Pathetic News Media summed up in one picture

Reminds me of this skit Dave Chappelle did about 9/11 and Ja Rule. Language is NSFW

Damn! I was just going to post this. It was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that link. "Where is Ja? Help me make sense of this tragedy Ja Rule!"

I'll never understand the celebrity obsession in this country.

Saw that and thought the same thing.

Mankind is regressing at an alarming rate.

Whoah there, not so hasty...you mean mankind or western culture, specifically Americans?

The whole world is not like this. And even Americans aren't. I hear the bitching about the obsession about social media but I really don't see it. Half my friends don't have facebook. Maybe it's because I don't have kids or something and don't see it in the upcoming generations. Social media doesn't sound all that great to me, I use it occassionaly for what it is good for- connecting with past people you'd never find without it. It can be good for buisnesses as well. That's about it.

I don't think really Social Media itself is the blame. Some people just don't have any common courtesy/sense. The same social media that people use to obsess over themselves and celebs was also used for people to help find their missing family members and/or tell them they were ok.

Its the problem with 24 hour news channels and services. They have to find something to fill all the airtime. There was really only about 15-20 minutes of broadcast worthy news in this event yesterday, but with umpteen channels doing 24 hour coverage, you end up with crap like what celebrities think of the event.

I wonder if cbs radio news ever reported what Clark Gable thought of the attack on Pearl Harbor?
