Not for a two down NT.

I wouldn't have a problem with it.

People throw around the term "two down" player a lot, but there's a lot of 3rd and shorts and 3rd and mediums where that "two down" player would be on the field. He wouldn't be on the field on 3rd and long situations, but in 3rd and long situations we could go with a front four of CJ, Hardy, Dwan Edwards, and Frank Alexander to bring a strong pass rush.

If that two down player helps me put the other team into a 3rd and long situation, then I'd spend a 2cd rounder on him no problem.

I would be more inclined to take him in the 2nd versus trading to get him.I get what you are saying and I should have used a different term but my point is we are in a division that will pass much more than they run and the ability to get to that qb is becoming more important.

You still have Hardy, Alexander, Dwan, and CJ on the field. The QB will be got to. We need a run stuffer, most agree. But what most really want, is a kid that can help in both the run and pass D. A 3 down rookie DT. Seems easy enough.

If we want one of the best run stuffers in the draft, Akeem Spence is a good bet in the 4th. And we've looked at him a good deal.

In the 2nd, you have to think of all of the likely players that could be on our board:

Sly

Short

Patton

Hunter

Escobar

Bailey

Rogers

Armstead

Elam

Warfard

Brandon Williams

I just don't see it happening.

Soo, I'm looking at some mocks and noticing that after we pick a lot of mocks have Hankins sitting til the end of the second. Any other year Hankins is a first round draft pick, but with any DT they take a year or two to develop. Let's channel some Hurney Magic on a prospect actually worth doing it with. Why not get a true NT with a non-stop motor this year and have him developed opposed to developing an LT or DT next year?

I am of the opinion we won't be drafting a DT in the first however. Our d-line is fine aside from NT. So my happy draft would be: J. Cyprien in first, best available WR not from USC in 2nd, and J. Hankins for our 2014 1st round pick. Only holes left are at CB and O-line after that and that is easily fixed with a little cap room.

I can't imagine anyone thinking this would work after we did a similar thing with Brown a few years ago. It was a disaster and so would this. Hard to believe anyone would even suggest it who wasn't trolling.

I'd take Hankins over anyone is that list. Easily. The only one that'd even be close is Hunter.
