vacarro relies more on the kill shot, which is a flag and fine waiting to happen thanks to refs being tougher on missile-like safeties.

I've seen a lot of that in Cyprien's game too though. I think a lot of safeties are going to have a hard time with the rules being what they are now.

i think it's probably safe to say that since we moved godfrey to FS that we're looking for a SS.

i think those two would actually balance each other out a bit. godfrey can play SS, but he's better at FS, and cyprien can play FS, but he's better at SS.

the advantage that cyprien has over vacarro is that cyprien is a better tackler. he wraps them up. vacarro relies more on the kill shot, which is a flag and fine waiting to happen thanks to refs being tougher on missile-like safeties.

Since neither of us are in on all the visits and what goes on behind closed doors, what we have to go on is much less than they do. As a result any speculation we have is going to based on a guess, little more. It depends on what their philosophy is at this point. Cyprien is the better pure SS. Vacarro gives you more flexibility and in the case of injury gives you the ability to play slot, either safety or even corner. Hurney liked the guys who were versatile. Gettlemen may or may not agree.

Who are we leaning towards at present??

For example is bringing Cyprien in 3 times indicative that we want him and are honing in and refining our pick or because we had ongoing questions and needed more information.

What happens if one or both of these guys is gone by 14. If Tampa takes a corner or safety given that their secondary sucks and they need a replacement for Barber, do they go with Cyprien and someone else. If they do, do we just plug in Vaccaro or go a different direction.

Hard to say at this point. But honestly the points you or I just made are likely not the determinant reasons we take one or the other.

As for the kill shot versus wrapping them up, that can easily be taught or untaught.

agreed. i just think that cyprien will take less work adjusting than others will. most don't even try to wrap up. cyprien does it a lot.

I don't think he's going to be available at 14 but I really want Tavon Austin. He reminds me a lot of Steve Smith and I really think that having him would make our offense pretty much unstoppable. I think we'll end up with a DT though.

Cyprien is my vote, although I could see Vacarro, Austin, Hopkins being the pick as well.

I've changed my mind on Star and if he or Lane Johnson are there at 14 I'm ok with that pick.

I'm assuming Warmack will not be there as well.

Good point. A more translatable game than some. And honestly, good safety play may have won us 2 or 3 more games last year.

i would even say average safety play would have helped win those games. the bar isn't set really high there. the goal in my mind is to just not suck in the secondary. everything else is gravy.

Yeah, that's a great way to look at it. I just think Warmack might be the best prospect in this draft, and the fact that we might get him at 14 is a huge steal. But I am a little more excited now at the thought of taking a safety after talking it out a bit.

warmack will be there at 14 when we pick and he will still be available after we pick.

teams don't draft OGs in the first round unless they have everything else pretty much set. that's not us.

OG just isn't that crucial of a position that you need are are benefitted a whole lot by getting an elite one. you're better off with good DL, WRs, DBs, LBs, OTs, and OC than you are with an elite OG.

just my opinion and gauging by the number of OGs taken in the first round in the past 20 years (there's only been 20 taken in that time frame) i think i'm not alone in that.

@AdamSchefter2m

A trashed hotel room at Indy scouting combine that Yahoo reported on belonged to Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins and Rutgers WR Mark Harrison

Just came here to post the same thing. That cannot bode well for Hopkins and his draft stock. Those closest to the situation said there was human feces everywhere, toothpaste everywhere, rotting food and some other disgusting things scattered about the room.
