I have given this quite a bit of thought and this is what I believe will be BPA when we draft.

On the remote chance he is there, we will pick Star in the first. If he is most likely taken I think we go wide receiver with Hopkins, Allen or Austin. If we go with Allen it will because Ricky Proehl knows him more than anyone and he will have given him the green light. Plus this whole drug screen thing will have been proven to be a non-issue. If Allen is not deemed worth the risk I really think we will pick Hopkins or Austin if he is there. I don't think we pass on Austin if he is there unless Ricky has sold them on Allen. Hopkins is a local favorite from Clemson.

If they go secondary it will be Rhodes if he is there and if not then, Vacarro.

I tend to agree with this scenario although I think we would take Cyprien over both Rhodes and Vaccaro. We haven't worked out or met with Rhodes. I believe Cyprien's instincts, football IQ, leadership qualities, how fast he gets downhill in run support, his natural ability as a SS, and the way he delivers hits is the exact type of field general Rivera wants on the backend of his defense.

I dont think we're taking a corner in this draft.

We're fine with the our group right now.

I think a lot of people get too caught up in the #1 receiver dilemma with Austin. And the thing is that they are absolutely right, he's not a number one receiver. He's a chess piece. He's a guy that we can line up almost anywhere and get production. He can do it all and he will give defenses problems. Honestly if Smitty went down this year we'd still have Hixon, Lafell on the outside with Austin anywhere else still doing everything. You can't pass on a talent like that.

I like Hopkins and Allen but I just don't think they are explosive enough to be considered with the 14th pick. Mid 20's sure. but not the top half of the draft. Patterson would be decent but for every Demaryius Thomas there's a Stephen Hill. It's too risky. Second round? Absolutely.

I also wouldn't mind a Rhodes, Richardson, Vaccaro or Warmack there. I think all three would help a ton but when a playmaker of Austin's caliber falls into your laps you have to take him. Imagine Austin in the backfield with Cam, or in the slot next to Smitty, or returning punts. The guy will score 5-6 TD's in some form next year for sure. Hopkins and Allen may not see the field until mid season bc of the learning curve. But with Austin all we have to do is get the ball in his hands and let him do the rest.

I dunno. I wouldn't be upset if we didn't pick him but I feel like we should.

If we are looking for only a strong safety then you can make a good case for Cyprien. But he is supsect in coverage particularly man coverage. If we want someone who is more versatile then Vacarro gives you more flexibility.

i think it's probably safe to say that since we moved godfrey to FS that we're looking for a SS.

i think those two would actually balance each other out a bit. godfrey can play SS, but he's better at FS, and cyprien can play FS, but he's better at SS.

the advantage that cyprien has over vacarro is that cyprien is a better tackler. he wraps them up. vacarro relies more on the kill shot, which is a flag and fine waiting to happen thanks to refs being tougher on missile-like safeties.
