Cam won't be at offseason workouts this week, likely next week(update: he will attend)

I'm pretty sure he got criticism for actually enrolling back in college from Heath Evans, there will definitely be criticism for him not attending the first week of workouts when he's the face of the franchise. I don't have a problem with it, but the media will.

He did

I'd rather he attend workouts since that's what he's paid to do, but this early in the process and since our offense shouldn't change much it really doesn't bother me.

Because expanding his critical thinking and excersising his brain while it is at it's peak age of soaking in information before it hits that point where things are 10x harder to learn, won't help him as a QB. Dead wrong on that one. Education helps a person in ALL areas of their life, including playing quarterback and especially at his age, it will have an even greater impact. Mental workouts are very important, especially for the QB. Despite the 'standardness' of education, unless you have a disability, it will help you and you will be smarter because of it.

i agree that it'll improve multiple areas of his life, and i have no problems with what he's doing... but it won't make him a better qb

lol how can you possibly say that?

Why wouldn't it? The bare minimum goal of getting an education is learning how to open your mind new things and looking at problems, situations and experiences from different angles. These perspectives are not there for the uneducated. And if education teaches you how to learn, why would that not apply on the field?

There is no way to prove it of course, there are too many aspects that go into being a better QB, but I'd like to think opening your mind and knowing how to approach and learn something new effectivley and accuratley are skills that will help.

Biologically his brain is in the process of becoming more dense, new pathways are being created and cognitive processes are better and more accuratley utilized. How could this not help him on the field? Cam thinks on the field doesn't he?

Self-education is just as possible, but so is learning anything by yourself. Problem is you might not learn aspects of it correctly, or sloppy. Paying a professional is sometimes a good thing, though some professors are useless, some really do teach you something. A mixture of both is always the best.

To an extent I could agree with you under conditions. Say if Cam were a 35 year old QB. At this point the brain as slow down tremendously. At that point it is less biological and more for knowledge sakes. But it just doesn't make sense to say it will help him in a lot of areas EXCEPT this one...it might not but it more than likely will.

I DON'T THINK*** it will

agreed on the point that there's no way to prove it either way, but i think football is more read and react type of thing. it may help his brain "work faster" but i view it as a very specific type of mastery. you can apply concepts you learn in a class to all sorts of areas of your life but i don't really see how you could apply it to football.

i see what you're saying about mental workouts, but i see it as working out a different muscle of your brain if that makes sense.
