Expectations

Recommended Posts

Well, I am not going to go all crazy this year with my expectations. Nine wins is very realistic. There is some tough competition in this division, like it or not. That being said, I hope we can get a couple of more. All this playoffs or bust stuff is a little bit shortsighted in my opinion in regards to Ron Rivera. I just feel he is going to have to make marked improvement from the game management side of the ball, and that the Panthers will have to be competitive. The team will have to eek out some wins, find a way to win, and most importantly not dig out ways to lose. We are going to have to keep building upon the wins of late last year, and not have the letdown---the "psyche"---that we had last year.

You dont think McD is ready though? He's come close with Reid being on the hot seat a couple of times hasnt he? not that that matters.. . but seems like it should count for something.

experience counts more in that situation.

and i don't trust mcD yet. i think he's doing well, but he's still young. i think he needs the structure of another coach ahead of him. with the eagles he wasn't ready and he needed a mentor. he lacked personal discipline in playcalling. i think he has that with rivera around. plopping him into the HC job might bring about a lack of discipline, not just with the players, but in game management.

While our history tells us we've been inconsistent, I think are team is made up differently now and our division is different too. I would say I have a hard time predicting anything bad for this team but Im knocking the fug out of some wood right now. Most of our players are healthy, if we can stay that way we'll be in every game we play.

At least we're not some of these other teams who dont even show up to the game sometimes. Thats in the coaching and its one thing that Rivera can be commended for I think. He may have made some bad calls in the year, but remember how the team responded in that final Saints game. Coaches always say that the best compliment he can get is "Hey man, you're players played really hard for you today."

No it wasn't. Gameplan isn't why Atl beat us....Nakamura sucking and not excuting basic d call was.

Same with Norman....which is why he was the only one picked on

The part about naka is true..however, who put him out there? Who decided to play soft zone? Not the players, but i understand if you've never played before.

Even a bad S should of been able to play that one right....he didn't.

And the Bears and Buc game wasn't a bad call....Norman just played it poorly routinely and Rivera finally had to quit giving him chances an bench him. It is why only Norman was attacked and not the other weak corner being asked to play zone.

Talent essentially made any call Rivera made....a bad call. Not his fault. He needs sufficient talent and each year he has worked with holes he can't work around
