Top 3 Draft needs

Recommended Posts

ESPN Stats & Information is listing Carolina’s draft needs as defensive tackle, safety and offensive tackle, and offering up some numbers to explain each of those needs.

On defensive tackle, the Panthers recorded just nine tackles for loss from defensive linemen last season. Only Dallas (seven) had fewer tackles for loss from the defensive line.

On safety, the Panthers allowed opponents to complete 47.2 percent of their passes of more than 20 yards downfield last season. That was the worst figure in the NFL.

On offensive tackle, quarterback Cam Newton was sacked or put under duress on 26.7 percent of his dropbacks last season, the fifth-highest rate in the NFL.

I agree completely. Interesting that CB is not a top 3 need.

Star

Warmack

Allen/Tavon

That's my order. I don't think any safeties are worth taking at #14. They are better off taking one in the 2nd in my opinion.

I don't think Star will be there but I wouldn't be mad at any of those players here in Charlotte. Good list.

At #14, a very good player might fall to us like Star, Warmack, Lane Johnson. If this happens do take the pick or do we trade down ? I say take the pick. These meet our needs and we light up the cigar

like the Celtics used to. We will be Happy Happy Happy.

I believe the O-Line stats are more of a product of bad scheme and bad coaching, not to mention a few very green players. I don't think it's going to be an issue this season like it was last season.

Nose tackle needs to be addressed, it's been put off for long enough. We have turnstiles at nose, and we are one Dwan away from having no answer at under.

I believe we need a WR, but that's a luxury pick at this point unless it's someone really special, which in my opinion none of them are except maybe Tavon Austin. It can wait until next season if you ask me.

Corner is a need, but it can wait. If our DEs keep up their excellent work and we get a better NT, their jobs will be easy all year. It can wait until next year.

I agree, we need a safety BAD. We've been in dire need of one for years, but it's been conveniently ignored.

I believe we should go NT/S in the first and second this season. Take your chances on some other players in the later rounds and fill in with vets where needed and able. Next years draft, go WR/CB in the first and second.

This is what we should try to aim for, but above all else go BPA if someone special drops into our laps.
