I've got the roku 2 as well and it works well enough. I've got it hooked up in the bedroom so I can watch netflix/amazon prime movies, as well as Lakers games on League Pass.....

I have a smart TV and a PS3. Is there any reason I should think about getting a Roku? I can already get Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, ect. through them. Is there anything Roku offers that those don't?

I use Roku with the free PLEX app (http://www.plexapp.com/ ) and I have my own personal netflix type thing that is free and has all the HBO/Showtime/Cable shows that I download via usenet. Streams in full HD flawlessly and fast as hell .

All I do is throw the movie files on a USB drive and PLEX automatically categorizes, downloads movie descriptions, viewer ratings, etc. Its awesome.

Also, with ROKU you get secret private channels you can add that aren't approved by Roku. For instance, add private channel name PORN as a private channel... not that I have done that or anything.

You can also add other private channels that have live TV streaming...

Yes, HBO off of usenet but the usb drive is connected to my pc. Roku accesses over the network. You can do wireless or wired. I have direct ethernet put in through the wall and ceiling because it is much faster.

Yep, I have an outdoor TV antennae that gets full HD. NFL Network Panthers games are always shown locally here through the local stations.

Stop by next time you are in Charlotte and I will show ya.
