Beason: Looking to be better

top dawg

Recommended Posts

I don't see many instances of our defense getting confused with Beason and Keuchly on the field. That's two of the smarter players in the league working together. If we can get a decent NT I think we've got the best front 7 in the league again.

I'll admit i was one of the ones who thought he was going to be OK coming back specially after the video. Now i will take a wait and see approach and hope we have back up plans for him and Davis.

That's why I really liked the Jordan Senn re-signing. He's not nearly the player any of the big 3 are, but he's a good backup making a reasonable amount.

Have you watched RG3 play?

Sure about 6 or 7 games. Tell me how many times he has to make cuts compared to the linebacker? He wasn't running on every play. Plays where he ran from the pocket on pass plays, he usually just ran to the outside and didn't require cuts or change of direction. Sure he had some spectacular plays once or twice a game running around but he could still play and be effective without those plays. Beason can't be that lucky. He has to be 100%.

I don't know what his cut rate is compare to a LB but Dude is making a lot of cuts and change of direction runs. He ran for 815 yards on 120 att. and a lot of those runs weren't straight ahead runs. This also doesn't count all the times he was escaping pressure and running around but pass the ball. Which happened a lot. All those were definitely change of direction moves coming from a dead stop.

Tell me how many Cuts and Change of direction moves you see in this 9 min video? Because Their are to many to count for me.

Let's first see how he does in 2013 before jumping to conclusions. It's absurd to be claiming Beason is now a serviceable LB because he had an injury plagued 2012.

Landry had an Achilles injury the year before and he recently had a Pro-Bowl caliber season.

He will be fine not because he will be 100% because you never recover totally from an achilles surgery like his. They will limit his duties to those he can perform like limited him to 1 side of the field as a Will backer, not requiring him to cover receivers or running backs out of the backfield.

As for Landry, he never had surgery for a torn Achilles, and he isn't close to pro-bowl caliber. he was cut from the Redskins, played one year for the Jets last year and is now with the Colts. If he is so great then why has he had 3 teams in 3 years.

Of course a highlight reel will show him making a lot of cuts. But like I said, RG3 can play at 70-80%. He doesn't have to run as much as he did last year. Even if he is healthy, I doubt they will let him run that much for the rest of his career. The point is, Beason doesn't have that luxury at linebacker. If he isn't 100% he will be a huge liability.

What was Beast on IR for last year?

If I'm not mistaken, it was nothing for achilles

Knee and shoulder....

But he missed a year of actually playing on his recovering Achilles....which would have been nice. Not expecting the Beast in 2013

Yea, he almost looked scared to tackle sometimes. Was reaching a lot with his arms. In sure that's just the mental aspect if not wanting to test that Achilles.

Probably because he was playing with a torn labrum which I'm sure made it extremely painful to run into a 5'11 220 lb running back who is lowering his shoulders. Rivera addressed this in a presser way back in like week 3 or 4 when we were pulling him for Jason Phillips.

Hey, Einstein, Landry attended his first Pro-Bowl this season and he's with the Colts because New York didn't want to pay him an outrageous amount of cash after his one year contract expired. As for his injury, Laron tore his Achilles Heel and he refused surgery. He opted instead for stem cell treatment.

I'm sorry but considering the list of top tier players who have torn their Achilles' Heels in the past 4-5 years, you're in no position to be predicting anything. Why don't you actually wait for the season to commence before dismissing anyone? A ton of fans ate crow this past season for what they said about Davis. You're no different at this endeavor.

Davis is an injury plagued LB you can no longer legitimately count on....last season still doesn't change that nor is it wrong to say.

Anyone knows that being elected to the pro-bowl is about popularity and not performance. Both Cromartie and Landry were elected to the pro-bowl from the Jets. Neither of those two were elected to the first or second teams as an All-Pro. Meanwhile both Weddle and Byrd were selected as All-pros but neither were voted to the Pro-bowl. Coincidence that Weddle plays for San Diego and Byrd played for Buffalo? All-Pro selections are done by football writers who cover the teams while 1/3 of the Pro Bowl vote are by fans.

Who are these top tier players who have torn their Achilles?? Ryans? Not top tier. Landry?? He didn't tear his Achilles completely. He was diagnosed with micro tears in the tendon and had no surgery. While you are trying to find someone, chew on this article.

The reason that Davis returned the third time and not the first two was because the surgery was performed by a different surgeon, Andrews, using a different procedure- patellar replacement versus using a cadaver ACL (1st time) or a hamstring (second time).

And I was the first here to say that Beason would struggle and stated that Davis might be able to come back given the different procedure. I also noted that 3 surgeries is usually the max given that it is hard to keep operating on the same site since each surgery weakens the bone you are drilling into. Info courtesy of my daughter who is a physical therapist for sports injuries. Why would I know the patellar tendon procedure was better? Did a lot of research before I had the same procedure done on me years ago by a surgeon in Raleigh who played linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings back in the day.

So yeah I am different at this endeavor.............
