So, you still think Joe Adams is safe? A new crop is on the way

First there was Ginn. Joe probably said "Oh, poo".

Then, there was Hixon. Joe probably said "Oh, fug!"

I called it earlier this offseason. Joe is on the bubble, as is anyone who isn't wearing 89. And while I'm talking wide receivers, 11's roster spot may not be in jeopardy this season, but he may not wanna take that starting spot for granted. Joe received a legitimate chance to seize his job and solidify his roster spot, as have most of the guys that constituted our WR corps last year, now it may be an uphill battle. I, for one, love the competition, and I love the fact that Gettleman and Rivera are apparently sowing the seeds of change in our corps of wide receivers. I could be jumping to conclusions or being a victim of my own wishful thinking after so many years, but these seemingly subtle changes and/or what some people might call nondescript and/or meaningless additions to our WR corps are really profound. G-man and Chico are serious about providing playmakers for Cam. The WRs on the roster (and field) today, will be markedly different at the start of the season.

Like I said yesterday:

The days of going to gunfights with just the Smith without the Wesson are gone.

Well anything is possible. I think cutting him is premature after all the chances we've given other guys.

With us working out a billion WR's it seems plausible atleast a few of last years guys won't be around though.

I could see Adams given one more year. Ginn will be gone after 2013 and we will need a returner. Adams still has talent to be an excellent returner.

Don't you think it's a bit presumptuous to say the Ginn will only be here for a year? He came here, in part, to revive his career as a starting WR. You think that G-man and Rivera were just pulling his leg?

Even if Ginn provides immediate and marked productivity as a return man, I am thinking that G-man would be reluctant to let him just walk, but if he proves to be a legitimate threat as a WR (much like Jacoby Jones), this will almost surely secure him a roster spot. And, if the season goes as planned, they may renew him before the season even ends.

Of course all this is assuming that he will make the roster, which is almost a surety considering Joe Adams' present status in the doghouse.
